Help me with my living room, on a budget. I'm so bad at this :-(
Comments (12)The colors you have work together well: white, grey and maroon. They need to be balanced around the room. A patterned rug, white coffee table accent pieces, and shades instead of curtains for a smoother line. I'd place the mirror on the narrow wall with the clock above it (reverse exclamation point) to add quirk and interest. Lighting seems to be an issue: add floor lamp at one end of sofa and an end table at the other end crate, stump, something unique but functional). Add floating shelves to the same beside the TV with light colored objects of art to reflect the light and stand out from the maroon wall: white antlers, candle sticks, linen wrapped books, etc....See MoreTaken Xmas tree down & I hate my living room now! Comments (8)It's a really nice room, I just think you may have a bit too much 'stuff' in it. An idea would be to remove all the 'stuff' and just be left with the furniture. Do all the pieces have room to breathe in the space? If not, remove some. Once you are happy about the space between them, take a look at your stuff and introduce bits back one, or a group of three at a time. Then see if the breathing space is still there. As an example, the reading chair is pushed too far back into the corner and is crowded by the other stuff you have around it. If you need the speaker, put the 2 unit bookcase on top of the speaker to move the speaker left, remove the decorative lamp from beside the fireplace totally and pull the chair forward. This may give it room to 'breathe'. Get a standard lamp to pop behind the chair for lighting. Remove the little table too. Use the top of the bookshelf for a couple of smaller books. Your mantle is lovely above your fire but is again too crowded in my view. Lovely things but too many of them. Remove either the grey lamp or the vase with twigs. Remove either the pic or the flat bowl. Then have either (from the left): twig vase, candle holder, picture, candle holder, grey vase. Or grey lamp, candle holder, flat bowl, candle holder, grey vase. If you see what I mean. Great idea from Sonia too. Swap the lamp behind the chair for the standing lamp. Put the lamp from behind the chair on you lovely sideboard. That then gives that piece room around it too. Doggie box can then be centered under those pics as well. Lovely doggie too :)...See MorePlease help me find some curtains for my north facing living room

Comments (6)the rooms have a lovely basis and can very easily be transformed as the floor looks very contemporary I would continue down that route... the pic Jonathan added and the pictures I added would suit the room perfectly you need to put in some paneling which a contemporary art canvas/picture in one of the squares and have some velvet sofas to continue on with the same style. I personally don't think the circular rug would look that great but choice is yours :) please send pics of the finished thing when it's done...See MoreIvan Tsvetkov
