Living room missing something
Comments (49)Tani I really love your cabinet it adds so much warmth to the room with the dark navy and I don't feel it clashes with your floor at all. I like your animal skin rug but perhaps a larger one in Tan and creamy white would help pull the woodwork, metal vase and floor together and give it nice balance. Not sure what colours you like but you could try some velvet or textured oranges with the navy as the tones are similar to the wood and then add some neutral beige or cream with it. Have you tried your mirror above your new cabinet it may help the balance with the TV one the opposite side. I feel a mantle peace will make a difference in white or antique white. Then add a canvas or painting that has all the tones you decide on in your room with some strong accent colours like the orange with the greens and yellows from your other rooms that will tie the two together. What ever you decide on I'm sure you will have fun. Take your time and good luck, most of all have some fun with it....See MoreI am clueless for living room design colours
Comments (16)Hi. It looks as if the last sofa would work although I can't see the arms on yours ! But I'd order a swatch of the material to see how the colour looks. Either papers are nice so would choose your favourite! The dining table also looks a little french so I'd pick the laura Ashley paper if you went for that one. I'd paper the alcoves. I would either have the tv where they have it or where their small sofa is now so it's not the main focal point. As you're after a country feel why not create a recess and fill it with logs until budget allows a fire with a mirror over the top? I would keep the flooring consistent to make the space feel bigger. If budget allows I'd put all wood in and use a rug to zone the living area. You can zone the dining area by using a different complementary accent colour and also with a pendant light over the table or even painting a feature ŵall. Perhaps also use a throw for your existing sofa ( not to cover all of it (!) but just to minimise some of the pattern)...See MorePlease help me ,i am lost,Need help with my living room
Comments (9)I agree with Red80 re furniture layout. There are lots of good things in this room, I just personally find the cushions and blinds clash with the chandelier and wallpaper. I would swap the 2 geometric cushions for softer patterns in lighter grey/white/duck egg. I'd get something with different textures as the cushions fabrics look the same atm? Add accessories to your coffee table, maybe just a pile of books, a vase of flowers, and an "ornament" in wood/ceramic/pewter etc again for texture. When budget allows swap the blinds for Roman blinds. Try blinds 2 go or Tuiss which is their sister company if you're in the UK. I can't remember the exact price but I got pure silk Roman blinds for 2 really large windows for c£450 which sounds a bargain to me although not yet up:) I agree the mirror is a little high. If you can, without leaving a hole on show in the wallpaper, I'd lower it as long as it doesn't reflect the tv! I'm not sure the pics to the left of the window work as they're obscured by the curtains. Perhaps also a taller vase/pot in the blue for the tv cabinet to detract from the tv a little more? Alternatively you could change the wallpaper and the mirror to give the room a contemporary rather than classical feel...See MoreI am trying to create a living room with a victorian look.cosy comfy
Comments (4)It's not easy to purchase 'off the high street' stuff that's for a period look. You need antique shops and online suppliers of one off chairs. Wing back and club chairs are of the Victorian era, so try searching online for that type of thing. Victorians were all about colour and rich textures. Blues, Greens, dark reds in crushed velvets. They also had a good old quantitiy of dark wood, mahogany, then some slightly lighter in Elm and Oak. Basically, richness was the key word. Start with a couple of wing back armchairs in a bold contrastng colour. Get a throw for the sofa to hide it's modern look if you can't replace. A rich rug, dark wood coffee table and side tables. Mixing and matching the woods is ok, as Eclectic is a good look for that Era also. Maybe you could just paint the bottom of the coffee table that you have as it's to country cottage for the right look at the moment....See MoreHU-395000348
