Please help me choose flooring for my kitchen/family room
Comments (3)Just had a solid oak floor put into a kitchen/diner/family room. The look is wonderful. I got help from other Houzzers on cleaning and Maintainance which works well so far. It creates an expensive look and is nicer under bare feet for a family space. Maybe a bit more Maintainance is required over all, but I always think that anything nice is worth the effort. Clean with a Swiffer or Vaccum cleaner. Mop up spills and find out from the manufacturer which products to use and when. Whatever your choice, ENJOY!...See MoreFamily room dilemma - help needed.
Comments (6)The two L-shaped sofas were a mistake. Even one of those is just an awkward thing to sit on for two people. I'm all for trying to work with the things you have, but this will always be difficult to configure. Can you post one or more photos taken from the other side of the room? So we can see the current dining area? I wonder if you can move the bookcase to the short wall, the dining table to that end of the room, one sofa to where the bookcase now is and sell the other one so you can get two chairs that you can place in front of the sliding window, at an angle, facing the sofa. But it depends on what this side of the room looks like. In all honesty, I'd rehome both sofas and get a 'normal' one. Sorry....See MoreHelp with family room
Comments (11)Minnie101, you are a complete star! Love the moss chair and think it would work with the sofa. Was originally looking at either a grey or dark blue velvet but the green would probably work better. I agree with your comments about lighting and tables and have already had a good look at the websites mentioned. we definitely need some storage and am debating whether to get a sideboard or have built in storage in the alcove opposite the door. You have inspired me to get shopping!...See MoreKitchen diner family room Help needed.
Comments (17)I’m sorry but I’ve got no idea how to do that. I mean to have your kitchen along the wall where the door opens into the garden, then from the left hand side wall you could have a breakfast bar/units coming out parallel to the kitchen with the sofa behind the bar area facing the wall opposite the kitchen. The tv would be on the left hand side on the wall opposite the kitchen/sofa. The dining table could then be put on the right hand side near to where the door goes into the hallway. I hope I’ve explained that a bit better....See MoreCarolina
