For the cushions you've chosen, I would buy modern sofa with clean lines in gray colour. The best place for sofa is the wall opposite the chimney breast and you can build the shelves on each side like on one of the pictures. Smaller sofa or two armchairs can be placed against the wall opposite the window. I would open the fire place and place there some wood blocks.

Do you have a separate living room? If you do, rather than add a small sofa I'd be tempted to go for a long rectangular table and add a banquette seat one side so you've got a comfy seat to watch tv. I've just found a couple of pics showing wishbone chairs with banquettes so ignore colour/style. Rugs do look great under dining tables although personally I wouldn't have one re cleaning! If you did add a sheepskin on a chair you're bringing in texture that waŷ. Re wood, I'd either go for a similar grain or pick one of the tones in the oak . I think the door works with the floor but you would be able to lighten it if wanted

I had a ushaped kitchen with peninsula in previous house as no room for island. I never felt stuck behind it- in fact i liked the fact that guests and kids were more likely to stay on the dining side out of my way! I now have an island as I'm stuck with the kitchen in the house we bought, and it drives me a bit crazy when there are lots of people in the kitchen as they all gather around the island and get in the way! I think your plan is pretty good except for oven position. I think it's really far from your workspace, and also I'd question the wisdom of having the oven beside the fridge? Maybe a tall larder cupboard in this position, and a range style cooker with double oven beneath? Or move the hob to the peninsula and put double oven somewhere along that wall?

Hi Tracey, Why not look at getting the Crittall doors in white to match the bifolds? I haven't got a close up photo of the Crittall system in white but I have a photo of a similar aluminium system in white which may be give you an idea of it being a suitable match to your white bifolds... The black can look a little stark against other white doors or windows but the style is such a great look it is well worth exploring the possibilities.
