Hi joelizabeth, They ship internationally and sit in a showroom that is twice the size of your living room... They are actually quite sizeable, granted they are not larger spheres, but offer a different kind of cluster light because they can hang quite low and they offer bespoke sizing.. I see what you mean- they do really work with grey or a darker colour scheme.. but the transparency of them can look really magical.. They have bright led's inside which illuminate the pebble - and so accent the little lights you have on those twigs.. With a couple of lower lighting options like a table lamp or a wall light... I could see them hanging off centre quite easily... Leaving the fan well alone.. Having them sitting off centre, is more interesting sometimes than having everything looking symmetrical.. Sometimes symmetry doesn't work... With the option to have them hanging at differing heights, you can create a unique configuration or even have them in a straight line.... They are glass ovals situated in a nickel metal surround and chain which houses the flex/cord which is woven into it. At the moment showrooms in London and New York.. You will find what works for you.. : ) )

Traditionally farm houses usually had wall sconce lighting. The LED strips do look really smart and give a lovely effect.  If we're definitely after something directional though have you had a look at these from IKEA? Hello Daniel. Sorry - late to the party. Yes, definitely oppressive. When you say holiday cottage, is it for yourself or are you letting it out? If you are letting it out, I would keep it simple and white so you can change the accessories, furniture and style as required and repainting is a minimal job when it is needed. A white will ensure the cottage is always looking fresh and can easily and cheaply be repainted and updated. The images from @Sonia above, show this perfectly. If it is going to be your home, or unique to you, then you can afford to do a little more to it and make it more personal in the colour choices, in which case I would base the colour used, on the rest of the space (including flooring, fabrics, walls etc). This would still be good in a lighter colour but something that offers a little contrast to other colours in the room. I hope this helps. Best, Gina
