Greg think you have made a great start, just needs a few colourful statement pieces. Firstly the chest of drawers are fab, my suggestion if you like them would be to utilise them in the lounge either side of the radiator under the window, for storing what looks like cd's the other side of the fireplace in these. You could put the existing cubes either side of the two sofa's. I would ditch the rug in the lounge, and get something bold and bright such as cobalt blue with orange/yellow. In the bedroom, keep the IKEA drawers and paint them either black or dark blue and have them adjacent to each other on the back wall opposite the bed, with the TV on top as someone has already suggested. The art work is great, but would swap it over to where the mirror is and move that elsewhere. Again ditch the rug, maybe an animal skin would work well in here, keeping a masculine feel. Pick some of the colours from the artwork for a well chosen throw and cushions for the bed, and don't be afraid to use some other accessories such as vases, lamps and dare I say candles!

Sorry to not get back before now, decorating myself! OK, so there is definitely a lady there and definitely doesn't want grey walls. With the added information that the curtains are claret with gold streaks, I would say - go for the gold then. Also if you have some pine furniture, this makes total sense. If you look at the photo I included (and sure you can google for others) the floor is golden and wall grey, so just reverse things, wall gold tone and carpet grey. You can get some test pots and try out against the curtains to see if picks up at slight gold, but still goes with the claret and grey. Only trying these out will tell you how light or dark or bright or muted gold to go. I would advise putting two coats on a large piece of paper at least A3 and then taping that to wall, this is better as done on white so shows the true colour tone, plus and you can move it around and even better, not have to paint it out afterwards! Try looking at these samples in different lights at different times of day, with lamps on only, overhead lights only etc. I think you have the basis for a really good scheme. I would agree with adding texture in cushions etc (at later stage) make you can take them back to store and keep tags on until you're absolutely sure, you really need to try stuff in situ to make sure it works in your setting. About white - looks fine in brightly lit spaces in full lighting, like well lit bathrooms and kitchens, not so good in pokey corners or rooms with any shadows at all. Can be very hard and cold, even clinical in many Northern European rooms, especially in winter!

I would have poo poo’d this idea before as I’d wonder what the point was, but make your self a mood board using the colours roughly in the same ratios. Are you planning on having some artwork as this may be the lynchpin that helps it hang all together. Pulling colours through from that will help the scheme. Tonal can be soft and soothing but needs layering up with texture to create a cohesive scheme. Alternatively pops of bright colour can look amazing and your kitchen is lovely and bright with good bones. What is the rest of your house like, and what is your style?
