copper and chrome accessorise

I'm just in the process of updating all of my bedroom furniture. We're not decorating at the mo as we're in a new build and paintwork ok and neutral. I'm desperate to get as much as poss done by Christmas.

I've got a grey chair for my dressing table and grey and chrome bedside lamps, bedding is silvery/grey. I've seen a ceiling light that I really like in copper will it work ok with the other colours in the room as well as chrome lamps and any other chrome?

I've created a mood board of bits that I like, and already have.

Hi @Tanya, really love what you're doing and can definitely see what you're trying with the copper. What we have seen work well is when you use a primary colour, so in this case grey or chrome, which is then complimented by your copper or brass items. Having these subtle changes in colour adds a very mature and balanced look to the whole room. The touches of copper I believe will look very glamorous, and add a tint to the whole room, like a copper lining, so its just there, but not overpowering.

On the other hand, if you have too much of copper with too much of grey and chrome, then you would honestly see a massive imbalance and clash. Making the overall room feel messy, and feeling like somethings just not right.

Art that we've collected all through our 35 yrs together. Reminds us of the where and when as well as having the enjoyment of the art. Most of them are prints, some canvas. Family photos are usually on narrow ledges (we call them ancestor shelves) in a main hallway, so they can be switched out; also because they are inexpensively framed, and more for private consumption than the artwork. Most of the surfaces in our house are uncluttered, some would say austere, so the wall art warms things up.

Hello Karen, The copper tap is by Vola... In order to get it for that price it may be that you need to enlist the help of a lovely designer who might be able to offer you trade on it especially if you're doing the whole bathroom but I feel that this price is still under cost price to them. If you included something else or more of the same tap range for bath and or shower rose fittings you can then start to bring the pricing down individually.. It could also be that multiple purchases across their umbrella range bring the pricing down further.. A white (Off white) Concrete basin like the one I sent you on the other thread would be about £760 ex vat. I am saying this as I have a contact that deals with Vola and Kast... Should you be interested in a sink too... : ))

Thanks everyone esp Carolins and Minnie for all their continued advice. I have the Mongolian cushion ordered! and a few samples of the material I posted being sent to check it out first . I am going to remember what you gave said about texture when it comes to the cushions and ornaments. Going to stop overthinking the cushion problem and just make a decision! :-) I'll post again when I have made further progress . Many thanks again .

The colours you've chosen work really well together; I find the room really peaceful and relaxing but not in the least bit dull. Fantastic job. On details, I'd paint the radiator the same Hague Blue - it's not a feature and deserves to blend in, not stand out. I'd also hang bigger pictures than those you've chosen - to give a sense of balance with the drama of the colour. That means you could have larger pictures/paintings on each wall - the room can take it and it won't be dominated by art because your sofa and chairs are such a good size for the room. I'd have bigger plants, or at least one bigger plant - the one I can see is a bit small and would work well on a surface (a side table, perhaps) while a very large plant on the floor would bring the room alive. I agree that a mirror would be good. Have you tried pulling the sofa away from the wall and more into the room? Would that make it seem even more cosy?
