Kitchen tile help
Anyone have any ideas what tiles to go for behind my cooker? Not sure whether to go plain white rectangles or try and jazz the kitchen up with something a bit different.

6 years agoI would go with some kind of patterned tile. It would work as at the moment it looks very calm and also it would be practical.

Comments (18)Homebase does some great porcelain tiles - Luna. The beige (also available in black but won't recommend) one will work well with your units I think. You can use the 300x600 size for the wall and the 400x400 for floor. They are not expensive at all, we paid only around £12/m when we did our bathroom in the old flat, hope the photos below show. Be aware they are very difficult to drill though. The word porcelain says it all! :). For the splash black though, it's been my dream to have a coloured glass one, any colour will go well with your neutrally coloured units. Comments (10)Hello Marina, What about having something that has a bit of both... light and dark... Lino is a good way to go as it can be easily maintained and there is lino and lino! Attaching a few images to show you what I mean... Sinclair Till has an absolutely fantastic range... I have attached a few of some complimentary colours and something really bright which could also work... All depends on what you like... I think they have an absolutely amazing range... They do plain colours as well but these here offer a texture in the form of pattern and colours that would detract from any muddy prints.. big or small! ... Comments (8)I love the tiles and I don't think they are too busy. I might be biased, because I have very similar tiles in my pantry, which is of course much smaller than a kitchen, but still... My theory is: a smaller pattern merges into one, while a larger pattern forces your eyes to follow the lines, so the larger pattern is much more overpowering. Just my theory though. I'm hoping to prove it with the enclosed photos :-D I think they will look fabulous!...See More

and I would avoid adding more colour. With your kitchen having already colour and wood, I'd keep the backsplash calmer - white or off white tiles - maybe you can play with the grout colour a little? Then the kitchen design and the backsplash won't "fight" :)

6 years agoLovely kitchen. How about glass metro tiles? They come in lots of colours. Your kitchen is very calming so you could go for any style, wacky or not! Here’s some examples of glass tiles.

6 years agoI agree brick tiles in a contrasting colour would look great and you could add a shelf above for extra storage, like this project we designed in North London.
