Lavender Tan mini
I bought a darling little “oddball” rose from Home Depot last night. They had a display of little Valentine mini gift roses for $4.99. Most were the usual colors, but one was special. It also had the worst looking foliage. It wasn’t terrible, but it had a few yellowed spotty leaves, while the others looked glossy and spotless. I bought it anyway, since I like the coffee colors, as long as there’s no orange involved. I’m hoping to fix it up(like I said, it’s not in really bad shape) and display it near my ‘Cafe Olé’, ‘Pam’s Choice’, and my two ‘Little Gray Pearls’. Any one have any idea what this little Home Depot rose could be? There’s no tag at all. Thanks, Lisa

Comments (55)Hi, in that space I would put a nice relaxing framed print and beneath it a shaker style shelf with pegs to hang pretty scarves or hats or bags. I have one in my utility room between two cupboards and it gives a lovely feel to the room as well as being useful. Comments (65)I'm looking to renovate the ensuite of my 2 bed flat and came across photos of open plan bathrooms. Some of the photos look great and I'm considering it as I don't have much room to work with in the bathroom and my bedroom has room I can use. I'm looking at moving the basin into the bedroom area, which would free up space for a bath and shower. I was thinking of making the basin look less bathroom-y and more like a makeup desk using wood and soft furnishing and a full length mirror. The rest of the bathroom would be behind a wall (no door). Main problem is that the door to the bedroom will open to the the basin (the rest of the bedroom is on the left), which I guess would put people off. I quite like the idea but I'm concerned it would put off potential buyers (more so after reading the comments). Should I stick with a traditional ensuite? I can put a bath and shower in there but I think it would be too cramped or I can loose the bath and have more room with just a shower. What do you think?...See MoreOur backgarden
Comments (4)Firstly i'd paint the fence in anything other than green, it's doing nothing to help your lovely patio furniture or the plants stand out. The raised planters on the patio sound lovely. I personally dislike water features and actually don't sit in my courtyard unless i have my headphones on to drown out next door's pond pump and mini-waterfall. The sound of running water puts my teeth on edge. However, many people love them and I agree they look nice, i just dislike the sound! I disagree about not putting climbers in. How can you not love a beautiful clematis. Montana Reubens is a very pretty and rampant grower. We have a few, they flower twice a year. Here's one of them! Hydrangeas work very well in pots, but a lot of plants are better off with their feet firmly in the ground. Comments (8)Ok firstly put led strips to the rear of each shelf then replace the tiles with plain ones perhaps the ones which appear to look like hematite, I can see you like grey so paint the chimney breast and the fire surround and also the shelves and the lower cupboards in the shade you like best(do not be afraid of being bold, it's only paint and time if you get it wrong.) then insert mirrors to the back of each shelf, you will be surprised how much bigger the room looks. Do the floor dark and the rest of the walls something pale like F&B cornforth white do the skirtings and doors white or otherwise the same as the fireplace etc. (If you go with the dark option then opt for a really pale rug) go to www.rugcouture.com and ask for samples then do windows with shutters or Romans something simple and in a pale coloured orate shelves with a mixture of books and ornaments anyway that's what I would do but whatever you choose enjoy it and have fun. I thought I was finding a treasure. This is the bloom that’s almost open this morning. It’s raining(YAY), so these blooms might be rain damaged. It sure looks light compared to the first blooms. We’ll see as it opens. They rain is slowing down and should end in the next hour or two, then a few sunny days, until more rain:) Lisa

I’ve set it out in a sunnier spot to dry out the petals a bit. Our temps are uncharacteristicly chilly for this time of year, so the buds are slower to open than I’m accustomed to. When I bought it, I could see that it was a weaker plant, than all the others. This one was the only one that had a few yellow/spotted leaves near the bottom. I actually took that to be a sign that it might actually be a lavender/tan rose, because those are often weaker plants overall.
I noticed this morning that one of the buds, on one of the four plants in the tiny container has a red bud. That one is obviously not the same variety as the lavender/tan. Of course that plant looks the healthiest! I can see that these lighter buds are not very rain tolerant. I think when it rains again on Friday, (I hope) I’ll shelter it on the patio.
