I love the look of the encaustic patterns, but they are busy. Are you thinking for the floor? Perhaps with a black and white overall color palette in the room, this would be a nice look.

I would go light. I would never do a dark bathroom. Bathrooms need to feel bright and clean. Dark and cozy is for other spaces like a bar or lounge, a piano room, a reading room, a library or office, dining rooms to some degree, but not bathrooms.

Depending the size of your bath the pattern can make it feel larger.

How about these tiles they are much larger in pattern and has more value less contrast

I would choose a tile that is very similar in tone to the flooring in the rest of the basement. They could still have an interesting pattern or layout. That way the transition will feel seamless which makes a space feel larger.

Well, it looks really nice and surely understand budget realities! Sorry you had waterproofing issues. Seems that is going around! But in the end you have a great additional bathroom -- yea!!!
