Nice to look at, not to live with

I find it makes me grumpy and now I have to see it not just on Houzz but in every clothing shop in the land. I am desperate for this trend to end.

I can't say I'd normally go for it, but we've inherited a mustard chaise and it's so comfortable, it makes me think everything in that colour is probably great too!

Not for me. Makes me feel a bit depressed.......

I think the colour scheme Anna mentioned is the only right one. Could look great, just not my personal cup of tea

Mustard is a strong but surprisingly neutral colour. We had walls of the "stage" area painted mustard in The Chapel of Art, an art gallery and cultural centre in Wales. Everything displayed - including paintings hung on that wall - was shown to perfection and never appeared out of place or a colour clash. It was followed through to dado height round the building. It proved practical and forgiving of scruffs and sticky fingers (many browsers had just finished an ice cream). I hope this trend helps to wean people off grey, which has its place, but... <yawn>

I love mustard - it's yellow, without being garish. However, I knew I'd gone a bit far when a visitor commented that I matched my interior: mustard curtains, lampshades, cushions, dining chairs, kitchen blind... and I greeted them wearing my favourite mustard dress. I'm in the process of changing to green (house, not dress) but still find myself irresistibly drawn to all things mustard :/

Love mustard yellow... Used it in my bathroom (bath/hand towels) teamed with midnight blue and toyed with it as the accent colour for what will be a charcoal grey sitting room but burnt orange has won me over. Found the perfect colour cushions in Primark... of all places!

Love it because it is a gorgeous happy & summery colour without being too in your face yellow, so it is harder to get sick of! But I don't like mustard so the description puts me off! However personally I would only have small touches of it, if any at all.

Only as an accent, with gray esp. Possibly with teal or navy

Depends on the exact shade.. Some have a green tinge (like the first photo) and edge towards chartreuse which I don't like. But the warmer versions (like colourhappy's photos) edge towards old gold and I love those, especially teamed with dark blue greys and blue greens.

STRICTLY for north facing rooms. Probably why it doesn't work in so many settings, but is so-o-o-o right in others.

I love it in small doses, it looks fantastic in brighter rooms and goes very well with darker denims/navy.

A lovely way to add a splash of colour to a room with darker decor.

I love it as an accent colour but I don't think I'd want a whole mustard-coloured room. I used to have a mustard wallpapered feature wall in my previous house and I have mustard with grey in my current house. It's a cheerful colour without being to bright.

I can stomach it in tiny doses or else in a well appointed Scandi look. But on the whole l find it drab and gloomy - a downer.

I'm intrigued. It looks to be on a higher (than ground) floor and I can see some lovely greenery through the exterior door opening but can't see a balcony or similar.

It is an attic conversion and has a glass Juliette balcony. We love the views so thought a door would be better than a window.

Some yellows that are described as mustard are actually more gold and they are quite nice. But what I see as true mustard to me is a revolting colour that reminds me of the content of new babies nappies. Sorry, I know that sounds awful but it's just what I see when I look at a jar of mustard or see anything that is the same shade. Maybe it doesn't help that I can't stand actual mustard, even the smell makes me feel ill so I guess some of it is the association between the two in my head. I wonder if fans of the colour tend to be equally as fond of the condiment and visa versa?
