Kitchen table - with or without table cloth or table runner?

How do you style your dining table or kitchen table when not in use?

With a table runner (and maybe something else)

With table cloth (and maybe something else)

Without anything to cover it (maybe just flowers)

Hi. I agree with emanuelle. I'd go for an old wooden table and mix it with contemporary chairs. If the walls are going white then add either colour with the chairs (a mix could also be good) or texture. I'd go for a rectangular table rather than circle. You can pick up contemporary chairs cheaply on ebay

Im just loving this site .its great that everyone takes time to suggest ideas and help. I think the consensus seems to be glass and i particularly like the ones with the wood bases. In answer to jessegee the kitchen has spotlights. Ive been seriously ill and the house became a little neglected so im now working through it room by room . Ive had new kitchen new bathroom and decorated staircase dining room and sunroom. Since ive been ill it seems i just cant make a decision so the help im gettingnon here is great. I will be posting some more pictures of my dining room/ snug and picking everyones brains again . Thanks again for the help i really appreciate it folks x

I think that you need to see how much space it takes up, depending on where you place it on the wall. If you have it central on the wall, you'll have a strange gap between the end of the units and the bar? And it won't really give you place to add a 3rd stool on the kitchen cabinets side without blocking the cabinet door, will it? Best way to do it (only know because I made a couple myself) is to sit at the table and measure distance from top of table to your legs but don’t forget to add an inch or so for the hem. Double this then then add it to the width & length of the table top. Easy! :-) Plastic curtain eyelet or parasol ring if you have a parasol.
