loft space storage idea

hi, this is an awkward storage space which I would like to utilise in the best way. I thought that bespoke cupboards/drawers would be best but still not sure how to do it to be able to access it best. thanks for any ideas

Comments (2)Sounds like a great idea; something similar was done recently on the BBC show £100k house - Tricks of the Trade. The rules are really about access and safety, particularly in the event of a fire. The best thing to do is talk to your local building control. The chest of drawers is fine but I really just put it there instead of getting rid of it when we changed our main bedroom furniture. Was surprised to find it fitted perfectly! I don't think we could attach it to the wall where it is because it's just a paper thin partition to a wardrobe in the other room. Comments (17)Thanks Katie, this looks great! The view is lovely I can definately see why you have done it this way. I love the window too. Do you mind If I ask what the dimensions of the room are for reference? My only concern would be if we could get enough full height storage on the eaves wall behind the bed, I don't think our room will be as big as this. The reason we planning to go for lots of tall storage is so that we can store away all our clothes and any other bits away as we don't have much storage throughout the rest of the house. So storage is a big thing on this build. But orientating the bed in that way make loads of sense. Ideally I would be able to just let them build the main shell and then get up there and position a bed in various places. But I guess so much has to be determined before that stage so the wall lights, plug points etc... are all in the correct place. I think I might draw some options up in CAD and then start a new thread and see which people prefer and what they would do themselves. Thanks for your comments and pictures :)...See More

Drawers and 'jacket' wardrobes either end (one out of shot). Sycamore with bog oak detail.The lower drawers are deeper than the top one extending right back to the angle they are 750mm (2'6") full extension runners so the whole space is utilised and items in the drawer are fully accessible.
6 years agoWe have recently converted our loft and have a similar space. The door that you can see is loft space. I’m also interested in any ideas because we’re not sure what to do with the space either.
