We are decorating our loft room, which is a good size and want to use the low area under the eaves to store books. It is too low for book shelves and is sloping so some units would leave a big void behind them. There is a velux window in the centre and we are mindful about air flow as we have had a bit of mould in the bottom corners of the walls when we had plastic boxes stacked up.

Hello, I'm trying to create a wardrobe out of my eaves space. Height 1.3m just like this photo. I like the shelving and will incorporate some, I just wondered if anyone else had seen this done, I have 14 linear meters of this space and I'd love to utilise it effectively rather than cupboard it off as attic storage. I'm thinking section it into 1m length runs and have one hanging rail, next section shelved- then I run out of ideas! Also I agree, either side of the ensuite could accommodate wardrobes - you could have a wardrobe built straight across in order to streamline the space - have the ensuite door incorporated into the design (so secret door to ensuite) but as you walk through this middle door make the space slightly wider and put shelving down the sides or one side for extra hidden storage ( 400 mm is good for basket storage - could be underwear storage t shirts towels etc - ceiling to floor - it’s a lot of storage and you could add a simple roller blind if you wanted to hide it. Otherwise instead of putting the wardrobes facing the bed build a plasterboard wall with the door through to the ensuite and have the entrance to storage either side - like a walk through dressing area. If you can extend this wall out by 1000 mm + it will make two great square cupboards either side which will be much better than wardrobes (hanging rails in one and shelving in the other maybe) and put bifolding doors on each. As these cupboards will be deeper they will accommodate a lot more storage for shoes etc and feel more accessible. As you have plaster walls facing your bed you have a nice wall for pictures or even shelving (you could even have strategic niches built into the wall if you are clever enough with the design) and you would hardly notice the loss of space in your bedroom. Don’t forget to allow for lighting in each cupboard. You now have the rest of the room to add a nice dressing table chair etc

Drawers and 'jacket' wardrobes either end (one out of shot). Sycamore with bog oak detail. The lower drawers are deeper than the top one extending right back to the angle they are 750mm (2'6") full extension runners so the whole space is utilised and items in the drawer are fully accessible.
