Bold paint colour?

Hi everybody.

After opinions please.

Large living room in a Victorian property - approximately 5.5m x 5m and 3.3m high ceilings. I really really really love F&B Oval room with white skirts (deep), white picture rail and coving above.

But... I own some whacky sofas that I adore and don't know if it would all be a step too far... Sofas are very bright and colourful patchwork and there is a 6 foot wide light grey marble fire surround. So there are a few considerations and I don't know whether this means I would be better going less bold in the wall colours. Flooring is pale engineered wood block which I cannot afford to replace at present so yet another tone to consider.

Photos don't do the room or sofas any justice but give some idea. The screenshot from F&B website shows how the oval blue can fit into a less formal setting but the fireplace is white and fits well in this photo.

I think it will work really well, the sofas put the warmth back in that the blue takes out and the flooring goes with either. Go for it!

I think it will look great. It's huge room and seems to be well lit. Oval Room BLue is quite greyed out anyway so not too dominant.

I'd tone down the door or brighten up the artwork. Both are lovely but it's as though they are separate rooms with the red door picking up the stained glass. A calmer shade of pink, blue or duck egg or similar would tone with the artwork better.

Hi Shebby. I can see your preferred colour palette in your ideabook:) perhaps consider the clear eames, they will visually take up less space. Have you thought about having the tv and fish tank on one longer unit or even hanging the tv on the wall over the tank? I probably wouldn't go for 2 sofas. Perhaps one chair in front of the unit angled towards the sofa? You could have an orange (!) upholstered footstool in the middle to use as a coffee table/extra seating. Perhaps add a console table and lamps behind the sofa. As before I'd zone living area with a rug and for dining use either a mirror or art on the wall to zone that with a big vase of flowers or something on the table. The best thing to do is cut out paper templates of everything you want and place them in the room and see how it is when you walk round them etc

kevnick80 I am trying to find the right intense blue. I've currently used Sanderson's Sea Blue but the one I wish I had used, and which I found after I'd painted the room, is Abigail Aherne's Bowery Blue. I've put a spread of it on a wall, next to a spread of the one I've used to compare them, and it's richer but brighter and very intense. I will paint over the Sanderson one as soon as I've got the energy. Maybe an opportunity for a company such as Formica to offer something new?? I am sure there would be lots of interest from architects / interior designers / consumers for something a bit different but with a decent price tag too? Flooring brands like Forbo really showcase how their products can be made modern and contemporary, without having to necessarily mimic another type of finish (although they offer these too I think..?). Wallpaper designs are almost limitless, so why not start designing more creative laminate worktop designs? Printed surfaces are limitless when it comes to creative designs. They don’t have to be complex. Simple, commercially viable to produce, but filling this market gap.... If someone could start designing and producing something for next year I’d appreciate it lol!!!

Thanks folks. I am feeling it is going to be a Yes and I think that's the push I needed.

ED there are two sofas - each different and made by a local sofa workshop. I just love the bonkers-ness of them and want them to be the star of the room but the room is so big it needs something else. The blue might be what it needs.
