Hi. You know, I'm totally with Pat Oliver on this - cant imagine why someone would have put three light fittings up in the first place!!! I, too, would go for just the one in the centre and remove the end light fitments. Don't know your budget or taste but I've fallen in love with ANTHROPOLOGIE'S totally OTT brightly coloured chandeliers which happen to be on sale now. I covet them but can't afford them. Why not combine your budget for two and buy something spectacular. You're only going to do it once!!! Wayfair is good for ideas and, believe it or not, if you have a COSTCO card they sell quite magnificent ones too. If budget is huge look perhaps at Thomas Goode. Happy shopping! Could you have a window with obscured glass or sandblasted glass? I would look into this first as lots of houses I have lived in have had the same issue with bathrooms looking directly onto neighbours properties, all have had frosted or sandblasted glass. My last house had a bathroom with no window and we didn't change it as we were there only briefly. It had pure white tiles which made it feel somewhat cold, I would avoid these. Something like a textured off white tile may be better (Porcelanosa have lots of choice). In terms of lighting, the quality of light is really important. LED's with a high CRI rating will give a much nicer light quality than cheap yellow or blue tinged ones. If you can't put in a window then perhaps hang mirrored units in the alcove and have the space packed out so that they fit flush with the walls either side. I would leave a space below them to utilise the shelf.

Everyone really seems to be "pro" tape strips! When I've costed it up, it's roughly the same to do both sides with LED linkable striplights, as is to do tape ones (after factoring in extra drivers and aluminium ducting profiles etc). Given that the LED linkable stiplights put out loads more light (35W for the 2.7m cabinets) vs tape lights which seem to be 10-15W over 5m (so approx half that for my cabinets), why would I want to go with tape? Are there any advantages of tape over striplights (other than being able to fix it flexibly round bends)?
