Good morning stroalki. There's no hard and fast "rule" to tiling selections. there simply has to be a certain cohesiveness to it all. Take a look at this bath I just finished. It looks alittle "much" in the pic, but really all works when your in it. So my advice would be get samples of the tile you want to use, and let the Pros here at Houzz helpyou tie it all together. Hi I would put a planted green screen of a nice flowering hedge which also has berries in the winter like Berberis. It will give you privacy and its not totally solid as a fence or wall would be and will give a much softer look. It also gives security as it has small prickly barbs You say your window sills are too narrow to take window boxes so why not put a nice long wrought iron planter under the full width of the window, attach to the wall, (It looks like the windows are quite low) or if not put a free standing planter under the window. I would not get rid of the front lawn and just have concrete slabs as you already have all the drive paved, it will just look like to much concrete and harsh unless you add some plants or create maybe a circular flower bed Too much concrete prevents good drainage too Adding a porch would be a great idea, perhaps just glass which will give a modern contemporary feel Also once you have changed that paint colour it will look a lot better

Any advice would be greatly appreciated ... we have 12mm marine ply base in a 3mtr sq bathroom that needs tiling on a tight budget. from what i can see so far , the waterproof matting ( at £50.00 5sq mtrs roll ) plus joining tape ( £20.00) plus the additional flexi adhesive both under and on top of the matting almost doubles the cost of the project. Logically , unless the matting is seamless with a lip around all the edges and under the wall tiles , to stop any excess water escaping and rotting the walls etc, then am i right in thinking that the principal of waterproof matting underlay is null and void ???? PLEASE ADVISE, as i can't afford or want to sold into unnecessary costs

Hiya, We are just in the process of completely renovating our downstairs and have gone for pale grey walls (F&B Ammonite) and navy / Inky blue Shaker units (Como from Zoffany) with a white marble look Quartz (Bianco Carrera from Unistone) After a huge amount of indecision, more samples than we knew what do with and a lot of help from our designer, we nervously selected some Seasoned Limestone tiles, which we are using with a wet underfloor heating system. The kitchen isn't finished yet but you can see some pictures of the flooring which has just been laid- the pictures really don't do it justice! It's definitely my favourite bit of the renovation so far, they are great big tiles at random sizes between 60 x 60cm and 60 x 90cm and they really make the room. Whatever flooring you pick I highly recommend you pay lots of attention to the texture; we found a lot of colours looked quite similar but it was the quality of the finish, thickness of the tile, the texture and finish of the edges that made a huge difference to how the stones looked and the quality of the overall feel.
