Hallway sideboard help
We have recently finished the decoration in our hallway and I can decide what sort of sideboard would look right. I have been toying with a grey tone sideboard with brass features (the living room which is right next door is decorated the same but has brass pendants) or something more modern and grey which picks up on the lights, maybe incorporating concrete. Any ideas welcome!

Comments (7)Removing the console, changing the flooring and creating more interest on the walls, as mentioned above, would help. Although I agree larger would most definitely be better just be careful on the size you plump for in the end. Comments (13)Hi Darren, I think when you have the space its always better to go bigger. As life and time changes we all end up needing more storage space in the end. Choosing the larger option also helps disguise more of the plug sockets and cables on that wall which can look insigthly when your sat on the sofa. In order for rooms to feel relaxed and have flow, where possible it's also important to maintain balance but centreing items to each other. Therefore i agree the TV should sit in the middle of the side board. I would also bring the TV down further on the wall. You don't want to be craning your neck and eyes up to look at the TV when sat on the sofa. I'd love to work with you on your interior project. Comments (7)Keep it very simple. A large piece of artwork or print over the sofa and a large simply framed Scandi style mirror over the sideboard. I would echo your neutral colours and stay away from anything ornate. An alternative might be to fix simple shelves above your sideboard to give you room to create and change small displays. I think dark would work well and I’ve also never thought about upcycling an old sideboard, I might give it a go!!
7 years agoThe first think I thought was white. And about 80 cm high. Loads of sideboards are lower than that and I think it'll look like a mini piece of furniture in your hallway.
Black could be good too, if you'd like something dramatic.

What type of storage do you need? Just wondering if a sideboard is the best option? You may not like this one (I've got it myself) but the drawers are over a foot wide so it holds stacks of stuff (I think it's about 40 deep too so won't encroach on hall). Could you have this (or similar) opposite the radiator and then a bench and mirror (I chose any picture) further down the hall? Just thinking it won't obscure the view to the garden then either. Beautiful hall btw

PRO7 years agoHi Ashleigh, I also had picked out the same storage option as GWW but in the mango wood finish! It could look lovely with a couple of table lamps either end and a round mirror above it.
