What Colour Paint?

Hi. Please could you help me? We’re nearly done with our en-suite and I’m really stuck on what colour to paint the walls. I had thought a light shade of green, perhaps like a sage green but really not sure. I thought a bit of colour would be nice? Pics of the space and wall/floor tiles included. PS. The bedroom will probably have a blue ombré wall and a coordinating shade of grey. Thanks so much!

PRO7 years agoOther options with sage green are nice too, but they convey a more country/traditional bathroom style, which looking at your sanitary ware is not what you’re going for.

Comments (21)Since this room has a heavily beamed ceiling and a smaller window I think it needs a lighter shade than the DH slate. Farrow and Ball have All White and Old white these have a green quality and look good with the wood and the floor. Both colours can be colour matched if you can't source F&B near you. Personally I would remove the top doors to the cabinets so that you are left with just the base doors and some shelves above. This will help see the beams and also help the room seem taller. If you can get it past the OH I would paint the beams or have them sand blasted and then paint the cupboards too. I would use the lighter colour on the ceiling between the beams and behind the shelves in the alcoves. I would probably paint the radiator and skirtings in the wall colour to make the room seem taller. Since it is probably not an original fire surround I would probably paint this in the ceiling colour- you could also paint the inside of the chimney recess in the DH slate. This is another room that needs a rug and a mirror- a round mirror above the fireplace would look fab- alternatively a floor standing mirror opposite the fireplace would be good as all the features are currently on one side of the room and this mirror would reflect them. Comments (4)Very pretty fabric. The background grey of the curtains would make a lovely wall colour. I don’t think you need anything bolder as the fabrics are quite bold. A pale grey carpet would be a nice neutral. I think you could go quite bold, if you dare, with the sofa though - bright green or teal, or pink. I think the Parker Knolls would look great in a bold velvet, but if that’s too much then a muted grey will still look great and you can liven them up with colourful cushions. Comments (15)I too would paint the wooden cabinet the same colour as the walls especially in a small kitchen so it will blend in. Wooden handles on teal would look nice but if the colour is Vardo as on your image that’s not what I call teal. Teal is much lighter. The handles on Carolina’s kitchen image is (I think) a crackle glaze finish. I don’t think they’re wood. For the ensuite, maybe a stony colour would go well with the blue in bedroom... although I love olive green too; I think it looks very elegant!

PRO7 years agoI agree with Opun, a soft sage is warm and would go really well with your tiles but a burnt orange would make a bit more of a statement.
