Hi Lauren and thanks for answering questions. I noticed there are very distinct black grout lines that standout. One is in the center of the shower and the remaining two trim the sink area to the left and the right of the mirrors. Was that done for affect or did that serve an alternate purpose? Love everything!!!

kinda depends on whether the wood floor goes with the kitchen. Personally I like to see the same floor throughout as that continuity does make a home seem bigger and help with the open plan feel. However it is perfectly acceptable to have a different floor treatment in one room as long as they are completely different materials.

Jonathandb1972, I was thinking of going with a grout that is the same colour or lighter than the grey tile. The hex will be grouted in a medium grey. This has already been done in the loo (the hex) and looks great. Neither are grouted in the above picture. Do you think there will still be issues with where the grout lines are if they are the same or lighter than the tile? Also, where the hex tile in the shower meets the grey tile will mainly be covered by the shower's profile. However, the shower only goes up to about 2m, so there will still be a visible "meeting" of tiles above that. My builder is a little concerned about how this will look as he will have to cut small pieces of tile to fill up the edge, which may stain once they start grouting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best...

I wonder whether a darker wood effect tile would work on the floor? Darker wood seems to create a more classy feel whereas the pale wood tiles (which are nice) seem more beachy.

Thank you so much! The dark black edge profiles you see were intentionally chosen to contrast with the faux-cement porcelain tile as an aesthetic feature. Japanese tatami design was an inspiration for this zen bathroom, and we loved the look of tatami mats and trying to replicate that vibe in this room. Thanks for asking!

Very wonderful bathroom, Lauren. The distinct black grout lines look especially nice. Question: how did they create the black horizontal one without the cap tile edge showing?

Thank you very much! We used black grout, but we also used a black schluter 11 MM edge profile that allowed for those thicker horizontal and vertical lines. I believe what you're seeing is actually the metal accent trim we used. I hope this is helpful to you!
