We'd prefer an enclosed utility, probably adding a new door from from the dining area so that we no longer have to enter via the conservatory (whoever added the extension to this house didn't think it through properly!). On the plan the red outlines are the open plan kitchen/diner that would be created by knocking down the kitchen wall & moving the utility wall. We'd make a new entrance to the playroom so that no useable space in that room would be wasted. We did think about encorporating all of the utility into the open plan & slicing off the top of the playroom too but then we'd lose the area in the playroom where we have a sofa that is used by the kids a lot.

It's quite a personal decision whether you prefer open plan or a separate kitchen so do what suits you. If you were going to go for open plan i don't think I'd knock down the wall though. I'd have kitchen all along one wall, move the bathroom to the kitchen then have a bigger hall with a bit of storage or possibly a study area or something. In terms of resale some buyers would love it but some would hate it so only do it if it improves how you live in the space.

I have been faced with this many times in the past. I generally ask the client to choose the profile they prefer then take a sample to the joiners shop where they can generally produce something near identical and I wouldn't have thought you would have a problem with yours

First of all removing all the stuff that doesn't belong in a living room will help. The living room feels like a closed off space because it looks so different compared to the dining room and kitchen. Everything is white and has a nice tiled floor. I would suggest continuing with this in the living room or you could put the wallpaper from the dining room in the living room as well. Having a floorplan would help when designing the space, but I'll try my best without a floorplan. Where the fireplace goes I would suggest letting someone make a custom cupboard. You can hang the tv on the space above that cupboard and make that the tv station. I would remove the sofa from the wall and move it closer to the "fireplace". Add a nice carpet and a coffeetable. Add a floor lamp and pick a different light fixture. If you want you can also create a seperate reading nook. I hope this helped.
