kinda depends on whether the wood floor goes with the kitchen. Personally I like to see the same floor throughout as that continuity does make a home seem bigger and help with the open plan feel. However it is perfectly acceptable to have a different floor treatment in one room as long as they are completely different materials.
Wood doesn't tend to traffic that well in Kitchens, especially around spots like sinks and hobs etc ... Would tile but you may want to get a tone that is going to blend in with the Wood to draw the eye through and flow more ? You could use a patterned floor if its in keeping with the rest of the decor.
