The NewYork apartment in the movie 'Down With Love' is my personal favourite. Sunken, circular longe, lofty spiralling staircase and that view! I'd change up the colour scheme, a bit too pink for my tastes. Or even it out by spending time at the equally stunning, James Bond-esque bachelor pad, with its wood tones and blue velvet goodness. Oh yes!

Ah we are doing something similar and have the same dilemma. After discussions with our architect and numerous image searches I've come to the conclusion that you can either have the frameless look as per your pic (but it will be fixed shut) or an opening window, but then more of the window seat structure needs to be solid, otherwise you end up with too many frames and it starts looking like a greenhouse. As regards the opening window, a pivot window doesn't work as too much gets in the way of the seat. We don't want bifold or sliding due to the line. We are going for a framed window looking out to the garden which hinges down one side - the frame won't be super thin but I will live with that. Fixed glass on one side of the seat. Solid down the other side (where the hinge is) and solid roof.

I think if you put a back to the wall toilet in and build a false wall out by 200mm in which to fit niches, you can hide your pipework and have somewhere to put shampoos etc whilst in the shower. I also think that you can fit in an offset shower tray 800 x 1000mm and a vanity of 600mm. That takes all of your room up across the back, but gives you a super shower area, with room to step out in to a big enough space in front of the toilet and towards the door. This shows the 200mm wall by the back to the wall toilet. You could start the first niche at the same height, but what i mean is, go right to the ceiling constructing something like this one. That's my shower.................and,. although you won't have a walk in like that, you can then put your shower, like this one up to the wall. Shown with actual size objects as above. Then you can fit in a full size Vanity like this one. Please note that you may also want a radiator, but there are some quite slimline ones available these days, and as your door opens outwards, there is room for one on the right as you step through.

Thanks for the replies. @Ellie I think my partner got the idea of a horizontal one from a one pitch roof photo on here. they do look really nice. @oneplan that's a really good point re lining up windows if they are horizontal. Although I think long horizontal ones is the builders last choice as he says they'll take longer to install. We're paying a day rate so trying to get everything pinned down in advance and as slick as possible. Our internal layout is slightly different to the floor plan I added to the comments. The kitchen is going in the centre in the 'old' extension (front of the house is Victorian and existing extension is 1990s). The new extension will have the sitting area on the left and the dining area on the right (so the opposite of the floor plan). This is because the wood burner will need to go on the left side and we want the seating area around that. Do you have any thoughts on narrow vehicle windows one on either side for the gable roof? I'll try to find the photo of what I mean. Thanks
