Oh no :-/ .... it will be so worth it once you have got it through the window though, it is gorgeous! I'll take a look at the website now - thanks..... if it's any consolation I once bought a sofa that just would not fit into the house. We got it in in the end but it involved getting a very talented upholsterer to take a saw (I felt sick) to my brand new sofa and then re-build it as good as new in the room...phew :-)

Hi Emma, clearly, the more bifold doors you have the more sightlines/frames you will get obstructing the view when the doors are shut (which will be most of the time considering UK weather and temperatures) so Ellie's advice about the sliding doors is well worth considering. Sightlines in sliding doors can be 20mm or less these days. The frames on bifolds are at least 50mm (x2 of course) and gaskets take up a few mm as well, so with five door panels you will have more than 500mm of frames within your 3910m opening (at least 12%) You will also need to consider the height of the bifold doors if you go for the 3-leaf 1200mm option because the weight of the glass starts to hit the limits in taller doors, putting excess strain on the hinges and runners. I presume you want three or five doors so you can have a traffic door, but if you can live without a traffic door, a four door system would suit perfectly well - but you would still have about 10% of the view obstructed by frames. Thanks very much for your insight! I’m happy with the room generally and there are black accents around the rest of the room including big black and copper drum shades that tie in with the fireplace. It was more the question of rug size. The photo angle I took is a bit of a strange angle so I’m not sure circle would work that well here. I like the long pile one but again I’m not sure would work too well practically or otherwise.

Thanks everyone. I definitely need to change the floor. I think it must be a me thing with herringbone. It is causing me alot of anxiety to look at! (I don't like clutter and it feels like the floor is always messy ) I painted the doors because I was struggling to match them to any new floor but in turn created this new problem. They feel like 'caravan' doors almost. The floor goes too far into the kitchen (you can see my hall floor in the kitchen!) Which is why I think if I get new doors I will get them set a bit further back so the doors sit in the right place. I quite like the idea of keeping the door glass to make it feel less closed off and maybe fixed panels and one larger door would work. I am trying to work out why I am 'ok' with the doors shut and not open. I wonder if it just looks more uniform to me. I just hate that small middle door which feels caravan like. I could strip the paint but I'm afraid I would be back to struggling to pick a floor to compliment the oak again. Over the years the oak had turned more orange too .
