Bathrooms Design Dilemma DIY

spruce up bathroom- help!

hey Houzz guys!

we've recently completed on our first home. money is a bit tight so i am looking for advice on how to spruce up the bathroom. we're lucky that the bath, shower etc are all a really good brand but i'm not so keen on the tiles..

is there anything anyone recommends to make this bathroom slightly more inviting? i plan to get a bath tray and obviously move the cleaning products to a better hiding place! any guidance welcome!!

Can't really see enough of it to make a comment. What's the sink area like? if you can't get it all in the one pic, post some more of right round the room. Adding a Blind, coloured towels, a little shelf for maybe a coloured plant? All sorts, just need to see a bit more first.

I agree, need more pics. The bathroom looks good and can easily be improved with accessories. Rather a big assumption but just based on your sofa choice (as hard to tell from your ideabooks as there aren't many pics) but I'm assuming something scandi in style. You could add some of these elements : plant for windowsill and if room a eucalyptus stem on the basin, wooden shelf for the bath, small vintage wooden stool or belly basket for storing toiletries, towels or loo roll. Black towel pegs, hammam towel, nice hand soap or holder. Not sure if you have a mirror or not?

Hi Cat, i love your flooring options! As Daisy has said i would look to paint the existing doors to match the new floor, i am not normally a "grey" person but a light grey would look good here. Shop around for a new worktop in a light colour as per your dream kitchen: try builders merchants for end of line or Ebay & finally paint the wall tiles bright white with tile paint - it will suffice until you decide to remodel. Oh and a venetian blind in the kitchen. Good luck & please show the "after" pictures.

Hi Daisy - could really do with some pictures with what you have already - I would say average bathrooms are between £2000-£8000 (so good you got the stuff!) taking tiles off an keeping bath in a good condition can be quite hard - any idea on what you're budget is? :)

We would recommend looking at some modular shelving systems or ours as it's made to measure and can work well in small spaces, but most of these combine shelves, desks and storage cabinets so you can just select what you need from the all the parts. You can also move their location at a later date into a new room or even if you are ever moving home again. We hope that's useful, ON&ON Planning team

E D, that's what I meant! You're right. Embrace the red carpet through adding different shades of red, add some yellow, maybe green and blue. And whatever rug you like. Because that solid red floor will always ask attention and pull the light out of the room. So, break that up. Could be with a kilim with different colours (including red) or with a lighter coloured rug. Have fun with it :-)

I agree with the comments above, little hard to see the whole room but if you want a bit of extra storage without it breaking the bank check these links out. Some storage for above and below the basin.

Daisy, first congratulations on your first home, sounds exciting! Your bathroom is already a great neutral base to work with, now just add a bit of colour and it will look even better. Maybe a cool shower curtain, a patterned rug and a round mirror? A few things like that will make a big difference! Good luck!
