Hello all, I thought I would share my AFTER pics of my garden transformation and the fence colour I have chosen. Hope you like it!!

Lap Fence Panels are the cheap ones , they look like this:- Close board or feather edged panel ( look the same ) and are a step up from the lap panels, they are generally better made and look like this:- Then you have the much more expensive Tongue and Groove Fences. They're a newer addition to fencing and not so widely available. I agree they are nice looking and you can justify the expense in a smaller expanse, but they're not cheap, about double , and maybe a bit more than that of a close board panel. In my opinion the strongest fencing is put up by hand using posts, rails and boards with no panels.

Your fencing has a cottage feel so I assume your garden is cottagey? A lot of people are painting fences black or dark grey and it does look good and it gives a more modern feel. I personally wouldn’t paint a fence in too bright a colour as it can be very overwhelming. I really like the deeper sage green colour Wild Thyme as it goes well with nature. The first picture is Wild Thyme. I think the bright colours such as the pink or blue are more for planters and pots or even a shed, rather than a fence. I think taupe shades like Muted Clay and Natural Stone can also look good. In one of the pics below someone has painted their fence in white and it looks lovely against the green planting. It really does depend on how big your garden is and the style of it. Here’s a few ideas.

Hi Damsel, If you really want a white picket fence without the maintenance then you could consider upvc. They are zero maintenance and don't loose their colour. If they get dirty you can jet wash them. The earlier ones weren't great but the newer ones its hard to tell their upvc.
