Advice on Fence colour please

I want to paint my fence but I just cant make my mind up. My garden furniture is grey and white so I thought a contrasting colour would be nice. I originally thought of creams and beiges but then I thought it was too light on a larger expanse. I've painted some areas from tester pots and was wondering if you wouldnt mind giving me your views. I'm not a lover of blues, I prefer the warmer colours. However, I do like the dark blue colour and the dark grey. I like the Pink but cant imagine it in my garden and I like the Heather colour I want to paint my shed too and wondered if I should paint it in a contrasting colour. All help is appreciated. Thank you.

It would be best if you give us a whole garden pic so we can see the lawn, plants, other landscaping etc as it needs to work with what you already have there.

If it was me, I'd be wanting a taller fence to hide the neighbours, preferably not with the holes like your current one has, and if not possible then a dark grey to coordinate best with their blue. If you do a pale shade their blue will stand out even more

that's a point re a pale shade. The fence is new. do wont be changing that. Thanks everyone

hi all, update is I have finally found a photo of someones stairs done in Brintons timorous beastie yellow Ruskin butterfly and its made me decide we are definitely 100% going for this as I love it (see attached pics) on stairs and landing... Floor in hall will be oak herringbone parquet, just wall colour to decide and we have bought new tall skirting so colour to paint this also? i have attcahed apic of the hall currently so you can see our front door with stain glass.. As Ive mentioned before the banister and spindles will be replaces with square spindles with an oak top banister and oak end cap - similar to this houzz pic ... So just to deicide on wall colour and new skirting colour... I really like f&b light blue in a hall with oak parquet but I don't feel this will go with the carpet... Kitchen and dining room will be one of the sage shades and lounge Wimborne white and downpipe...

I think the door of the shed attracts the eye much less than the walls of the shed. And the door is darker. I’m just pointing that out because I’ve painted a few fences, pergolas and sheds in my time and the first few times I tried light and out of desperation then went dark and have worked out dark recedes. Plus, rough wood is hard to paint and shows that it’s rough much more obviously than dark. But if you husband is a decorator I bet he can do a great job whatever you pick. :)

Is creosote still in production? Horrible stuff that stinks to high heaven for years. It was found to be carcinogenic so no one uses it anymore. It also causes breathing and stomach problems. I find “one coat” anything never truly replaces 2 coats. Lots of people on here have used Cuprinol Garden Shades with pretty good results. It’s on offer at Wickes and B&Q at the moment. Lovely colours too.

Help! I need suggestions / ideas to brighten up the patio as it looks like we’ll be spending much of the summer here! I want to paint the 2 fence panels first and have been looking at Dulux weather shield colours as we painted the shed Bluebell and Goosewing although that’s right at the other end of the garden. Your fencing has a cottage feel so I assume your garden is cottagey? A lot of people are painting fences black or dark grey and it does look good and it gives a more modern feel. I personally wouldn’t paint a fence in too bright a colour as it can be very overwhelming. I really like the deeper sage green colour Wild Thyme as it goes well with nature. The first picture is Wild Thyme. I think the bright colours such as the pink or blue are more for planters and pots or even a shed, rather than a fence. I think taupe shades like Muted Clay and Natural Stone can also look good. In one of the pics below someone has painted their fence in white and it looks lovely against the green planting. It really does depend on how big your garden is and the style of it. Here’s a few ideas.

Hi Sonia, thank you so much for this. My garden has all types of shrubs and flowers. I've decided on Willow which is a light green for the shed and Lavendar for the fence which is a darkish colour. I liked the dark grey but my furniture is grey so I chose a contrasting colour. Thanks once again xx
