Gardens Kitchens Design Dilemma

pendle light recommendation

Hi everyone,

We have ordered our kitchen and we are now starting to think about lighting, maybe pendle lights on the island. We will have a dropped ceiling above the island with a flush ceiling hood (the one on the pic attached). The hood will have 4 spotlights

The kitchen is contemporary one with distressed cup handles and a marble effect worktop. Cabinets on the wall are a light cashmere grey(very warm) and the island is a super Matt dark grey

Any lighting ideas please? I would greatly appreciate your previous advice x

Hi, your new kitchen looks great, I think it might be better to have one big pendant or a group of 3 pendants above your dining table instead if your table is in the space behind the island shown in image 2. This is because the layout of the pendants would be tricky due to the extractor being centred above the island. I would suggest adding linear LED striplight ontop of your high units shown in image 1 to uplight the ceiling and make the space feel bigger and provide an indirect wash of light. I hope it all goes well!

Hi, Are you still looking for some recommendations? Hoop ceiling lightings are a trend at the moment and it would look great in living room area. Have you thought about a specific colour you would like? Also, if you could post an image of your living room, that will help me give you the best recommendation of lighting. I love Johnstones paint. Wouldn’t use anything else. They can also match to Farrow & Ball colours etc. They do a sample tin. It’s a nice little sized tin (and it is a tin, not one of those Dulux plastic things) and as I’m a regular I get mine for £3 or £3.50 (can’t recall). I would get them to do a couple of sample tins. Perhaps have a word with some long standing member of staff to get their opinion. Our local manager is Sandra. She’s been there many many years and has a good eye for detail.

Hi Ellie. Right ignore the IP rating, apparently a requirement for bathrooms only, I thought the same would be sensible in some areas in the kitchen but apparently not! if you like the anglepoise I'd probably put some mid century style pendants with them. I would personally go for glass to emit as much light as possible If you're not having any downlights and a sputnik style over the table which will disperse light over the length of the table. It also doesn't visually fill the space too much which may be good with the drop in ceiling height? Do you have any cabinet handles at all btw? I don't know how you feel about having the light hung low over the table (typically a min of 76cm above the table). I've added a pic of the black version of the brass one as it's hung even lower the 76cm. If you don't like this idea there are a number of semi-flush ones which would work. I've also added the last pic as I guess layout is similar. Sadly the wall lights are no longer sold where they but will persist in trying to find similar if you like this look!
