At the heart of their better lifestyles, better care, less stress and more happiness lies a system that taxes those that earn slightly more than the average wage between 40% and 60% tax. This raises much more revenue and they have more to spend on essential services. It's a fairer system, with less of a social and wealth divide. Fairer society = Happier people!

A yes hedge would be perfectly sensible. Some might say that yews are slow growing but when they’ve settled in they should grow at a rate of about 30cm per year. I would make the bed about a meter deep to accommodate the bushy growth and plant them 60cm apart. Hedges are best planted in the autumn (sep-oct) or in the spring (March-April) and better to buy younger plants or bare root rather than mature plants as they’ll settle in quicker. For now I would work on improving the soil by mixing in well rotted compost or manure and let the soil compact before planting. Also note that yews don’t like being in damp conditions as they can suffer from root rot, if you think that area gets waterlogged then you’ll need to raise the soil level and add extra grit for drainage. I do not ‘obsess’ about anything but a number of things make using the space much nicer - we always cook from scratch so when we modernised our kitchen 5 years ago, I was able to design the modest space in to a very workable kitchen with plenty of storage space (cupboards scribed up to the ceiling to avoid dusty tops of cupboards), long lines of worktops for food prep & lots of cupboards to keep things off the surfaces. I had additional shelves cut at Homebase to make storage easier in the large cupboards (I have lots of china & glass). I removed the door between the utility and the kitchen so the space flows & the utility sink is deep enough to take all the large oven trays. I also decided on eye level ovens with a view to the future when I might not want to be bending over a hot oven at floor level. A redesigned kitchen

It’s a leylandi hedge that is at the end of its life. The plants only grow at the tips and the inside is old dead wood. It is becoming wider as it appears to already have had a crown reduction so the side tips are currently the active area of growth. You have tried to reduce the width by cutting the sides hard back but the dead Underwood is now visible. This area will not regrow. The hedge does give you a good screening from the other properties around and it will be a big change removing it. However the hedge is not going to improve by further pruning so removing it will inevitably have to be done. You need to decide how much screening you wish to have when it’s gone. A fence would provide some and with layered planting in your front garden you could create a far more attractive screen. Go for it!
