Hi,

We are going to get our bathroom fitted soon.

We have brushed gold shower but was wondering what people think of having black taps for the sink and bath tub?

I would prefer to have all 3 with brushed gold/brass but I am struggling to find bath mixer that are the same finish and modern.

What do you think about the bath and basin tap in brushed gold on the photos attached? Is this closer to your shower set in terms of finish and style? If you would be interested you could order them with us. But in case you would like something different, we suggest you at least have the same finish taps in the same area, meaning if you have a shower bath, than it would look better if both taps are in either brushed gold or black. But if you have a separate shower and bath, then you can easily opt for a brushed gold shower set and a black filler tap. And of course the same goes for the basin. Hopefully this helps! Hi thank you!

Our shower is in a different area to the bath. The finish on these are spot on! My question is, where can I find a bath filled with the same finish? I can’t have wall fitted taps for the bath unfortunately.

That's true. Maybe just a pale grey feature wall somewhere as you originally said. Some artwork would help but there's not much wall space for hanging stuff. The bathroom will be all new anyway so maybe leave the wow factor as you can't cater for everyone's taste. If it's neutral they can do what they want with it decor wise. Maybe shop around for some vinyl, they do some great ones. A wood effect would be quite timeless with metro tiles.

Get a very large very absorbant bath mat asap! Look at Karndean luxury vinyl tile that comes in wood plank style. This will be reminiscent of what you already have, but it will be super practical (and waterproof).

Hi Jen, good idea re the laundry - it would nicely "segregate" that functional space and open up all the rest as bathroom space. If you go that route, just check with a plumber that you don't cause any knock on issues with running a soil pipe from the back of the WC to the main soil stack (you really don't want those issues!!), and then make sure you do it in a way that doesn't lose light from that window. Regarding custom mirrors - the cheapest way is to get a local glazier to quote to make and install. Assuming it is just a single plain sheet you are looking for, the cost should not be too bad at all. Definitely get the glazier to install - it pays to leave the risk on their side, and they are experienced in handling the material. I've had a few bespoke glass splashbacks go "pop" on me, and there are few worse feelings... For what is a relatively piece of glass, make sure that there are no access issues to get it into the room (awkward bends round stairs or the like), or consider doing it in a couple of pieces. And if you are concerned about getting the best price, ask a couple of people to quote and look online too. And don't be afraid to haggle nicely - any glazier will try and squeeze a little extra margin if they can, so try and get it back! One needn't necessarily "compromise" between bath and shower here; they're not entirely trivial to find but a small number of manufacturers make _square_ (or at least, near-square / wide) shaped bathtubs (Japanese soaking tub style) at about 120cm width. I've found: https://www.livinghouse.co.uk/acatalog/square-lounge-bath.html https://www.omnitub.co.uk/products/omnitub-duo-plus Such make a very luxurious bath (if money's no object, even a whirlpool / steam shower setting) while also providing more than ample space for great showering. Yes, you'd probably need to have some small steps built to enter the bath. And a concern would only be whether the floor is strong enough (when used as a bath, it makes a difference whether there's 300l or 150l water in the tub). Diagonally-installed corner baths may also be an option (quite a bit cheaper), something like: https://victoriaplum.com/product/orchard-wharfe-corner-bath-1200-x-1200 which would also allow a better shower experience than a 70cm-wide standard bath. Not as deep as a soaking tub / wouldn't need steps. If going for something like that, I would actually "box-off" the corner and turn it into shelving for storage, so the bath turns into a bit of an "enclosed niche", something like: I wouldn't go for a freestanding bathtub; the narrow spaces would make it challenging to clean.

The bath tap you found on Ebay looks great and for a good price! We suggest you go for it because brushed gold taps are otherwise quite difficult to come across, as you have realised yourself. Deck mounted taps are also more cost effective in terms of installation. Let us know if you would need help with your renovation project. Black and gold works really well but i think gold taps would look better to tie in with the shower.
