Does this kitchen layout work?
Comments (12)That's almost identical to ours that we're having fitted at the end of this month. Great minds and all that :) We went for a split level breakfast bar for the reasons that have already been stated, oh and also 3 stools. We have no issues with the ovens and hob being at opposite ends of the room, for the same reasons that you also stated. We thought that it 'could' be an issue, but over time we found that actually there a very very few times that were using both at exactly the same time. Usually we just chuck something in the oven, then take it out a few hours later. The veg and stuff, just pop it on the hob. No problems, I'm sure it's just a 'what people are used to' problem rather than anything else. Yes, we also have a full height fridge next to the ovens. That's not going to be an issue either IMO, i mean, how many times to you leave the oven doors open and are desperate to get into the fridge - saying that though, we've gone for Neff hide & slide so the oven door isn't going to be an issue either. Integrated dishwasher, yes agreed. That's what we have gone for. The freezers are in the utility room. We've also gone for a wine cooler, and a black ceramic sink. Good luck, it's going to look great !!!...See Moredoes oak herringbone work in a contemporary kitchen
Comments (17)Thanks for all the positive feedback. You get so involved in the process that sometimes you forget the ‘project’ is your home ! Next project is the utility which we cancelled as part of this phase as we were just going to tidy up the existing small utility room but decided to open it up to make it bigger incorporating the adjacent wc and small internal hall combing the 3 small rooms to make one decent sized room. Updates to follow for anyone that is interested....See MoreGray and cream does it work?
Comments (7)I dont think cream and grey work at all, it does look good in the first pic posted by sonia above but I am sure it's because of the white units against the cream wall. What lighting do you have? Can you change to warm white lights if you haven't got them as it makes a huge difference to me....See MoreDekton Laurent - does it work for us?
Comments (7)Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, it’s been very helpful. I suppose I’ve been focused more on the aesthetic of it and not whether it would actually inspire me to cook as CWD says! I’ll try and mock up some renders with perhaps a darker island and lighter worktop and backsplash and see if that ends up working...See More- 7 years ago
