Gray and cream does it work?

I'm in desperate need of some colour advise. My kitchen is dove gray with a dove gray granite work top,, white walls and dark gray floors . It looks so cold and needs some warm colours adding but don't know what will work. Can't change the granite as it's too expensive but everything else can be changed. Really wanted to add some warm grays creams and whites but not sure what would work. Any suggestions?

Adding wood (chopping boards, wooden furniture perhaps) and/or a rug will warm things up too. Perhaps a plant or two, like fresh herbs?

Get a colour chart from Dulux, crown etc. pick the colours that match your units and floors etc. Then look at their suggestions online for complementary colours to give you ideas on what would look great.

Then post pics when it is finished and looking fab!

Grey and cream go really well together, but I would choose a light cream for the walls. More like single cream and less like clotted cream! If you are finding it cold, how about a rug on the floor to give it warmth?

I think a nice light grey to make the units stand out would work well. If you fancy a lighter, more blended look then go with the cream. As Branwhite says above, if it's a dark room, then grey will suck more light out.

I quite like the wooden ‘pastry bench’ although if actually needed for that purpose, marble would be better. Also, for practical use, personally think it’s too far from the sink & cooking areas. I would also be unsure about the floor, I like it but there is just something that isn’t right - as you said, maybe it just needs some copper elements in the room (handles) to pull it together. I’d keep the direction of the ‘grain’ as it is - I think it would look odd all in line but it’s worth trying it before committing.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. You get so involved in the process that sometimes you forget the ‘project’ is your home ! Next project is the utility which we cancelled as part of this phase as we were just going to tidy up the existing small utility room but decided to open it up to make it bigger incorporating the adjacent wc and small internal hall combing the 3 small rooms to make one decent sized room. Pagazzi Lighting have some lights as do cox and , as above I would avoid the cream, and opt for white , itll stand out against the wall and against your sideboard. I dont think cream and grey work at all, it does look good in the first pic posted by sonia above but I am sure it's because of the white units against the cream wall.

What lighting do you have? Can you change to warm white lights if you haven't got them as it makes a huge difference to me.

I actually found out that grey and cream/off white can work because when we painted the walls of our stairs and lading in grey, the white paint of the doors and door frames were quite yellow/cream before we repainted them and they looked really good against the grey walls.

My suggestion is to use pale greens/blues, beige and creams. The cooler shades make the warm shades look warmer.
