I'd keep the sofa where Jonathan has got it. Have the tv wall mounted by the sockets on a swing arm bracket with a low,slim sideboard underneath (for storage). Some of the mid century modern ones are low so may be worth a look. Opposite the sofa I'd have a console with upholstered stools/cubes underneath and a chair next to it angled towards the sofa. Hang the largest mirror you can over the console to make the room feel wider. I'd also go for a built in banquette seat with storage underneath for toys etc. I don't think you can fit a 5ft table, certainly not with a high chair unless you have one that clips on so would go for a 4ft one (we often have 6 for breakfast around ours, cosy but fine!). A pedestal table would be good hence the tulip one as Jen also pictured! I'd go for 3 dining chairs. Keep one by the console with a throw, cushion etc and push the table up to include it at the end for guests when needed. Use a rug to zone the living space so the front legs of the sofa and chair sit on it. You should also have room for a small side table next to the sofa (I make the room a bit longer than Jonathan unless I've misunderstood the dimensions?) Try cutting out paper templates of everything to size and walking round the room before you buy to get a feel of how the space will work

I've got exactly a 17cm gap between my chairs and kitchen table which I can just about cross my legs at so the gap is fine is to me. Sometimes though visually a stool can look too high. I love LTS's first stool (it's looking good with the bar fitted!) but it looks a tad too high for me personally so it might be good to see a pic of your bar. i may be wrong but think it's going to be hard to find a fixed seat of 70cm. Counter stools versus bar stools come within whatever height ranges and I think 70 probably sits in the middle of those ranges. Hi Emma. The only one I knew of was in the first photo from Oka however it's been on sale the last few days and the corner unit part is now showing as sold out. The other 2 are from Barker and stonehouse. Danetti also have a couple. if you want something really comfy I'm not sure if you're better off looking for a sofa on legs and going into a shop To try it for comfort and take a tape measure.The seat height needs to be around 45cm, I also would opt for fairly firm cushions and nothing too deep. All of the ones I've looked at online so far only show overall sofa height rather than seat height.. You could also commission one (maybe just change the legs for something taller which may not be a dear option) or does it have to be L shaped?

Hi, looking for advice on building block and brick walls for a raised planter. The height is seat back height, so around 840mm, and will be a 6 metre long wedge shape box, with the narrowest point at 500mm and the widest 1400mm. I'll build an internal wall somewhere along the wider end to provide additional support. This will connect with a lower wall of around 450mm heigh. The planter will contain small plants but considering a eucalyptus or olive tree. So the advice I need is: As this is a box, not a free standing wall, am I ok with a foundation of 300/300mm? Some parts of the trench I've dug to 300mm deep are into clay, others not. Will I be ok with single skin walls? I'm planning on building with standard aerated blocks with a double layer of engineered bricks for DPC. Will the roots of a eucalyptus or olive tree tree need a stronger wall? To provide a moisture barrier inside I was going to line with plastic but is there a finishing render that can be applied inside and out to provide this? May be a coloured one (white) that also doesn't requiring painting as a final finish to the shown surface? I'm presuming normal cement is suitable to use for the footings and mortar? I've attached a rough 3d visual, though the wedge to the right is going to be only 450mm heigh. Thanks
