Both seem to work reasonably well.

In your scheme there looks to be just enough room for a small ottoman and r stool to sit on as you dress.

The scheme with the wardrobe on the left wall feels like there is more space to breathe at the head of the bed, it is less cramped.

If you are interested in such things, Feng Shui and Vaastu designs suggests you would have better nights sleep if your head is not at the north. It may be something to do with aligning with the earths magnetic field

WHy don't you consider putting the bed along the same wall as the doorway. Leave the wardrobes where they are giving you more access to the wardrobe door openings.

I would position an ottoman at the end of the bed or you many have room to put a small cocktail chair in the corner with a floor lamp as a neat reading area.

Place some artwork on the wall opposite the bed that ties in with the overall scheme so you have a nice viewpoint on entering the room. Consider having the wardrobes in a deep taupe / grey to make more of a statement if they are bespoke.

Hi David, I think your proposed design (photograph) works best because it gives the opportunity to have a small bedside cabinet either side of the bed. if there is not a full length mirror on the inside of a wardrobe door you could consider putting one on the end of the wardrobe for use when the room door is closed; also when the room door is fully open it would look nicer than a blank wardrobe end.

Try a corner wardrobe so that it is not immediately in your face as you walk in
