help with bedroom design

Hi all! We are designing our bedroom and have chosen the “main” items but now we’re stuck for what we can do. Our lounge is a bit modern/scandi feel. I’m thinking of going something bohemian for the bedroom. Would this work? Also, any ideas on how we can start designing? I am thinking of getting a rug (maybe jute) but not sure if it will “disappear” with our floor. Sorry I have too many questions! Thanks!

Scandi and Bohemian would go very well together. The recipe is pale colour palette: grey, dusty pink, forest green; natural materials: linen, jute, wool, baskets, pale wood, teak, paper; handmade items: macrame, knitted throws, cushions; and lots of plants everywhere. You can throw in some candles and incense if you like them .

Hi J B, you can definitely combine Scandi Bohemian and with the correct percentage, you could have an idyllic bedroom.

Things to consider:

1. Try to put a rug (jute could do) a little bit lighter that your floor, maybe with some patterns on it (as Marina above shows) in order for it to stand out.

2. It is a bedroom, so do not overdo it in the colors and decorations (I know how much you may want to do it). Please consider, that the bedroom is a place you go to for relaxation as well.

3. Pale color palette, rattan (maybe in the lighting, armchairs)

4. Cushions, you can go for more bohemian. Colors/reds/different textures/geometric shapes

5. You could put 3 white picture frames above the bed with "silent images" (images that are not so colorful)

6. Do not overdo it with the plants (you need some oxygen yourself :) )

Yes, usually my accent wall is wall papered, first time in a long time not papered as I do like patterns and shapes. I am starting bedroom project tomorrow, think I am decided on the colour of the walls, and the brass look, just hundred things running through my mind on how to tie it in all together now, so concentrating on what to do with the curtains and bedspread. I usually go for bedding that is striking and vivid, as I love a good bed (I did say don't take notice of my bedroom at the moment, it is thrown together and looks awful) curtains always scare me on what to do there, so I usually just go for one colour. But please, any ideas, are greatly wanted and appreciated. So when you say a purple drape, are you saying on for the curtains? I really want to try and experiment there, but, as said, they always scare me lol

Thanks I've chosen a wallpaper for behind the bed it's a grey shimmer colour. It's called Aquarius Dove Grey (see attached). I was planning to paint the walls in a warm grey colour like Dulux's just walnut. Bedding will be white with a mink throw and cushions to tie in with curtains I already have. They look brown photo but it's mink shimmer. I have a mink shaggy rug, and I've purchased some mirrored bed side cabinets. Hi David WHy don't you consider putting the bed along the same wall as the doorway. Leave the wardrobes where they are giving you more access to the wardrobe door openings. I would position an ottoman at the end of the bed or you many have room to put a small cocktail chair in the corner with a floor lamp as a neat reading area. Place some artwork on the wall opposite the bed that ties in with the overall scheme so you have a nice viewpoint on entering the room. Thanks Maggie for the tips and photos! I love the bed spread and pillows on your 2nd pic (blue/grey/ white combination). I think I’ll use this.

Thanks also for the photos Marina. I love the pattered rug (pic with snake plant) and striped rug. I hope I can find this! Also love the rattan chair.
