Please help! bedroom design dilemma

I thought it would be easy decorating my bedroom but now I'm stuck on what to do. I started painting the walls white but haven't quite finished decorating. What I actually would like is something glamorous and I like neutral and muted tones. I recently brought a black bed but not sure whether to paint the wall behind it charcoal, grey or white. I think it can get away with a dark colour as I have two windows opposite each other. I the other side of the bed is a wardrobe and chest of drawers the wood is walnut. There is another double wardrobe to the one shown measuring 3 metres.

I would add a silvery grey metallic wallpaper behind the bed to give you the glamour. I'd also swap the black bedding for paler greys and white and just pick up the black in cushion patterns or trims etc. I think your bed will stand out a lot more then

Hi, I would perhaps use something you really like about the room as a theme? So for me, I love the striped wallpaper. I'd use this as a focus point, then add some warmth to your bedroom with metallic tones like silver and gold in luxe materials and then add a statement colour with cushions and the odd accent, like purple. Just a thought :)

Just a thought, what about putting the bed against the wall of the walk in wardrobe and you can still have your headboard, no need to change or move a radiator and the wife's side of the bed would be next to the wardrobe entrance. It's all a bit cramped by the looks of things and while you'll have your ensuite and your walkin wardrobe you'll still be walking into a box room. Another thought I had to to lose the bedside cabinets and increase the appearance of space would be in to have the bed side lights on the partition wall and the storage built into the stud wall with pull out shelves for those breakfast in bed moments and cups of tea. Change the door to open onto your landing as well!!! Good luck

Hi Claire, Do the doors actually open inwards into the room? How about considering place the bed in the center of the room facing the doors? You would disguise the back of the bed with a thin console table which have some dressing style storage (jewelry etc) and can hold some tall flowers and candles to set the mood on entering. There's lots of ways you can add the luxury feel you are looking but this would create real impact and make the bed the real feature of the space. If budget allows I would hang lights from the ceiling ad beside lights and layer up on dressing for an even more luxurious feel. I have attached one of my clients bedroom design (single room re-design package) to show you the hanging lighting idea - if this isn't possible then a well placed small chandelier style light would have a great effect on the space. Hi, I live in a Victorian house too with a bay - and had a similar dilemma. Someone on a forum recommended a company in Wales (I think!) that make lovely iron curtain poles - so that’s what we did, and we’ve never looked back!! The company have a (basic) website - it explains how to measure (you have to do several measurements which they then use to ensure a perfect fit!). The pole arrived as one solid piece that was bent at all the right places. We chose a gorgeous white with simple small white balls as the finals. You can choose different thicknesses of pole too. It’s attached to the wall with 3 fittings - one in the middle and one at each end. In theory we could have just two wide curtains on it, but in reality we chose to hang 4 curtains - one on each end and one in each corner to pull across the back. We went for white as we didn’t want the heavy look of the black poles - our house had those when we moved in and we wanted something a bit different and more neutral. We hung light white curtains to start with but currently have a heavy dark grey velvet. Both looked great with the pole as it’s very unobtrusive. I can’t remember the cost but I do remember it being cheaper than I was expecting - more than Ikea (!!) but less than John Lewis - and it’s totally bespoke and one one solid pole. I’m assuming the soil pipe is near to the top right corner. There could be two entrances to the bathroom if you had a smaller shower and placed the bath diagonally across the corner under the window. For added light to the wardrobe area, the bed partition need not be full height The TV position might be an issue, perhaps where the dressing table is shown….. Lovely big room, I am imagining a lovely view is through the patio windows…

Thanks I've chosen a wallpaper for behind the bed it's a grey shimmer colour. It's called Aquarius Dove Grey (see attached). I was planning to paint the walls in a warm grey colour like Dulux's just walnut. Bedding will be white with a mink throw and cushions to tie in with curtains I already have. They look brown photo but it's mink shimmer. I have a mink shaggy rug, and I've purchased some mirrored bed side cabinets. (See attached) I need to do a moodboard, as it's hard thinking if these colours will all blend together

This is a great space to work with, especially as you're so lucky to have so much lighting! We love grey, and you can mix the tones of dark and grey to make it feel really luxe. As your paper is quite plain (as in no pattern) have you thought about adding some pattern and lightening up the room with your bedding? Soft furnishings really can make all the difference to how a room feels when complete.
