Help with bedroom design with dressing room and ensuite please

Hello

Hoping someone can help me with some ideas on how to design my new master bedroom please. It is a blank slate at the moment so open to any ideas.

I keep getting stuck with ideas as there is a large sliding patio door across one wall off the room (see pic), we have considered changing this for a smaller one but would be great if we could leave it there due to cost and also its a lovely big window.

Would ideally like a dressing room and ensuite (with bath and walk in shower). Dressing room doesn't need to be massive, somewhere for some wardrobes etc, could maybe work as a walk through to ensuite.

The two windows shown on plan are not there yet but this is the position they would need to be in approximately due to plans.

Not sure if measurements show very clearly on here. The room is 23ft x 16ft and 4.5ft each side of the sliding patio door.

One option - but you would have to split the existing patio door. Sliding shutters might be a way of making sense of splitting the space

Hi Emily, here are some pictures This is the corridor, we have tried to show the step back between the two walls, there is 877mm behind the mirrored doors. This is the end of the bedroom we proposed moving the bathroom to This end is where we thought the dressing area could go, blocking the first door from the corridor. We have taken down the stud wall that used to divide the room. En-suite which we proposed combining with corridor to make bedroom with door from landing at far end of en-suite. Any ideas would be gratefully received as we are going round in circles with our ideas. Thanks Amanda

Sorry but I agree with Jonathan and Sarah. The room could feel luxurious given its size, but shower room seems too narrow. I had similar size in old house (width of shower) as I wanted as much space in bedroom as I could. It was done well so looked ok but felt far from spacious inside. I ended up with bedroom bigger than I needed but pokey shower room which was used a lot. If you made it longer towards where wardrobes are planned, could you have something like this on the other side (where one of the sofas are)? Your bed could stay where it is now rather than as shown in the attached. Incidentally my parents have exact same layout you are proposing. Their wardrobes are not walk in though, just L shaped. Being situated like this works ok in the (much smaller) room they have.

What a wonderful thread this has been ! So many great ideas, and much imagination ! In a bedroom setting, I think a sliding door into the en suite would be a perfectly acceptable solution - especially if it means the wall wouldn't need to be as thick as for pocket alternative. The beroom is the better part of 15' square, so with the bay window, there is plenty of room to accommodate Jonathan's first design. Loads of storage along the 'back' wall, too. One thing is puzzling me about design 2: why do you need 2 doors (one into bedroom and one into dressing room ? Have I missed something ? I'd prefer to walk into the bedroom, I think - so the door could be moved a little further along, to take account of the width of the wardrobes. Gives an unbroken run of storage in the dressing area.

I’m assuming the soil pipe is near to the top right corner. There could be two entrances to the bathroom if you had a smaller shower and placed the bath diagonally across the corner under the window.

For added light to the wardrobe area, the bed partition need not be full height

The TV position might be an issue, perhaps where the dressing table is shown…..

Lovely big room, I am imagining a lovely view is through the patio windows…
