Pictures of the knobs I liked didn't come through; trying again here.

I like the originality of all of these (not saying they go with the cabinets but I like them).

Also sharing a pic of our cabinet door finishes as it's hard to see in the photos above. Butler pantry/dining room on left; kitchen on right.

Finally, I neglected to say that we are just as concerned about functionality as we are beauty, if not more so.

suzyq53, I was thinking the same thing for the kitchen cabinets so good to have that feedback.

The DR/butler pantry cabinets are lighter than they appear in the room photo above (see photo in first comment for a better representation). We are thinking a darker finish for that hardware, perhaps. The upper center cabinet will have smoked beveled glass doors also. The DR countertop is very deep/dark brown - basically black unless you are looking really closely.

BeverlyFLADeziner, is that a glass knob? I can't quite tell from the photo.

I personally prefer the contradiction of Stainless steel or Nickel against the dark of your cabinets.

Thank you, Jora. Any thoughts on how nickel may go (or not go) with the chrome faucet? I suppose it depends on the nickel finish - it seems to vary so much across manufacturers. I've seen some nickel finishes that have much more yellow tone and some that are less.

Yes, chrome seems to vary depending on the manufacturer. AND, it's really difficult to get the true colors via online searches.

I don't think all the metals have to match unless you just don't like th mix. You could do chrome pulls but that would be because you want shiny. Either would work. Since SS is already taking up more space, its the safest bet Or go darker and it all just blends in.

Please don't put a dark knob on those dark cabinets. It looks like the knob BeverlyFLADeziner is showing is either glass or acrylic.

In addition to the way knobs/handles LOOK, is the way they FEEL. You are going to be opening and closing the doors and drawers many times during the day, and you need to make sure that they feel good on your hands. For example, the "tree branch" handle in the second photo would be very uncomfortable (to me) to use.

Go to a store and actually touch the handles and knobs to see what feels good. I like the smooth round glass knob that Beverly posted, but there are so many more options. And definitely get a material that contrasts with your cabinets.

It's only my opinion, but really this kitchen just needs knobs based on the style and design of the cabinets.

I agree with Beverly about just getting knobs. And make sure to bring samples home to see them in person against your doors. Sometimes the projection is too small for anyone with larger hands to easily open. That’s a big consideration in our house.

Knobs would look nice but have you considered Bow Pulls? I think they would look great in your kitchen! The best part about them is that they taper down to the drawer/ cabinet at the ends so NO SNAGGED BELT LOOPS! You should check out Century Hardware's Volute, Iris and Raw Authentic collections. All three have bow pulls with artistic flare that i think would look great in your kitchen! Best wishes!

BeverlyFLADeziner, that picture is very helpful. I had some sample knobs and held them up to the cabinets and didn’t like them, particularly on the smaller drawers. But seeing the whole kitchen with knobs is very different and looks nice. Thank you! I do think I want larger pulls on the big, deep drawers and the pull-out pantry. I’m thinking it may be too hard to pull those open with just a knob, particularly as we age.

Diana Bier, I completely agree. We have been to one showroom for a touch-feel tour; I’d like to find more places.

Another question: We got a tip-out tray in front of the sink. Will it look completely odd to put hardware on it? Now that the sink and counters are installed it is proving very hard to open without one. Not something I want to deal with on a daily basis, but I’m thinking it may look strNge with hardware.

You could put an almost invisible tab pull in that one location.

I like to use pulls on drawers and knobs on drawers. If you have a large kitchen, it gives a bit of interest. And you can use different sizes. For example on a narrow 12" drawer I used a 4" pull, but on the rest 6" pulls. And 9" on the pantry doors.

Regarding the tip out tray I have pulls on mine and it looks fine. Don’t know how you could open them without handles!

I used knobs on doors and pulls on drawers. These are from Knobs4Less. They don’t snag our clothes, either.

I've always used knobs on doors and pulls on drawers for both form and function. A knob looks lost to me on a drawer and is too small for such a big function (and two knobs - or pulls for that matter - are a bad idea as you always need both hands available to open them)

Your kitchen could benefit from some bright shiny contrast. I just put these TopKnobs Dakota Charlotte series in polished nickel in my parents new kitchen - they are gorgeous AND feel so great to use.

I wanted my 80 year old parents have enough room for their hands to fit in the pulls comfortably, and have cabinet knobs that felt easy/good to grasp with their aging hands. I also wanted the kitchen to look as good as it performs and fell in love with this sparkly combo, found them on W-yfair for far less than the hardware store.

I love my knobs and pulls from Rejuvenation! You can find lots of nice options there in tons of different finishes.

I used TopKnobs Charlotte pulls as well, except in Satin Nickel. Very pleased - easy for my 100 year old mother to use, deep enough for those with larger hands to use comfortably, and easy to keep clean.

Fyi, these are the Dakota Charlotte in my parents' new kitchen, so much talk about them being great for older hands I just want to point out they don't look "older", and feel great in any age hands and look beautiful and timeless!

RedRyder, what size are the pulls on your large drawers? One struggle is finding hardware in designs we really love that offers a sufficient variety of pull sizes - especially long enough for our 30-39” wide drawers.

The ones I have are 5” on the small drawers and 8” on the deep heavy drawers. The style I chose had quite a few pull sizes, which is important so you get the right ones. They are also not super expensive - I needed 48 pieces for the kitchen and laundry room. Knobs4Less is the website. I bought several samples before I bought the one I chose. And scoured websites for the sizes before starting to fall, in love only to realize they didn’t have my sizes. With a matching knob for the doors.

Mom - are your pulls all the 6 inch or did you also use the 3 or 4 inch ones as well?
