I’ve got exactly the same issue. Two sets of bifolds one of 3 metres and one of 7.3 metres. The gap between the top of the bifolds and the overhang from the eaves is 40mm. I pegged some lightweight tarpaulin sheets to the gutters (yes I used clothes pegs) and this reduced the temperature inside by 10C! There is the option to fit ceiling mounted curtain runners to the underside of the eaves and hang weather proof, UV proof curtains to this tracking. The bifolds can still open underneath the tracking. Downsides - I only have about 1 metre either side to tie back the curtains and take them down during autumn/summer. Will definitely reduce the solar gain but is a real pain. AC being installed but this will constantly fight the sunlight so I’m still thinking what to do?

Hi, We would second linen shades. They are lightweight and thin, allowing a wide array of light to filter through. You could also try rattan shades these allow a large amount of light out through the gaps in the shades. Glass shades are also ideal and non of the light is filtered as it comes through the shade. You can see our whole range of easy-fit shades here - https://www.litecraft.co.uk/lighting/shades/all-lamp-shades Thanks, The Litecraft team

Why don't you ring Cotswood doors and ask for the exact RAL colour? Sometimes they are helpful as there is always future business and recommendations to consider. If they are not forthcoming at least you tried.

A soft grey always look gentle and neutral, in fact most “ginger” fencing goes silver grey with the passage of time. Dark grey or black can also look good but can be a bit over dramatic for some people! Cuprinol do some lovely shades. Silver Birch is nice.
