It all depends on the look and feel of your cloakroom. What does the rest of the room look like? Are you going for a certain style? Or do you just want any type of light?

Perhaps a few more pictures would give us a better idea.

I've now attached a couple of pictures - still needs decorating, but I'm planning to paint the walls (or just the front one) in dark blue or grey, put a wooden round mirror above the wash basin and perhaps some wooden shelves as it's a big clockroom. I'm tempted to transform this clockroom in an utility room, but I'll need to think better about it as I'm not sure it's convenient without a window.

Anyway, my main concern about the lighting is that I may buy a ceiling light that doesn't fit? The current light as shown in the picture looks different than the "normal" ones.

If you buy a new light fitting, an electrician would remove the current fitting and simply wire in the new one.
You would only keep the current fitting if you are simply looking for a new shade to attach to it. Looking at your photo, attaching a shade may be tricky.
The upshot is that the world is your oyster - you can choose any light fitting that you like - but get an electrician in to help swap them over!!

There's some great design ideas here - you could also consider having a fitting with a motion detector built in, or get your electrician to wire one in. They are very flush and can be set to go off after it detects the room becomes vacant.

The Edison bulbs with exposed filaments are still very popular and come in many shapes and sizes. Good luck.
