Quartzform vs Silestone quartz

Which of these quartz are better? Looking at a white marble 3m island.
Which has better stain/heat/ chip resistance?
Also is there an issue with uv as planning on a skylight above part of worktop.

Had Silestone quartz worktops fitted four years ago and very pleased with durability of them. I always use chopping boards for prepping and trivets for hot pans just to be on safe side. The outer edges have been bevelled so probably helps with chipping as I have none.

Check out Silestones NBoost technology. There are lots of videos online that show by impregnating the material you can get much better stain resistance than other quartz and they clean up better too.

Silestone offer some of their colours in jubo slabs which are 325x159cm: Ariel, Lyra, Lagoon, Blanco Orion & Heliz are just a few of the marble like options they have available. Some others to look at would be the Technistone - Noble Carrara & Noble Supreme White. Santamargherita - Lyskamm, Quartzforms - Veined Michelangelo & Impreial White. Dekton - Aura, Entzo & Kairos. Compac - Carrara. Cimstone - Olympos. Caesarstone - Calacatta Nuvo. These are all 3m and over. Hope this helps, all of these brands have websites if you wanted to see the different colours. I'm not sure where you are based but we have samples of all of these colours in our showroom which is in Kirk Langley, Derbyshire.

Yes Compac offer Glace (matte), Polished, Concrete (Matte & slightly textured but only available in the Concrete collection), Ovo (Honed) & Pergamo (Brush & Hammered). The Ovo and Pergamo are special order and aren't available on all colours so this is something you would have to check if you see a colour you like. Caesarstone have 3 finish choices: Polished, Honed (Matte) and Viento (textured). Again you would have to check the chosen colour with Caesarstone to see if its available in the finish you like. The marketing companies do such a great job that anything you buy will date - even the classics 'evolve' over time - so perhaps go with styles that give you a bit of flexibility - ie that you could change colour of ( painted finish ) or that you could easily change handles on etc so you can keep up with style changes. Re worktops - if you choose something that's within your current budget - with a view to maybe getting your 'dream worktop' in a couple of years ? This might be an option. And just try and get into the habit of drying puddles near places where the worktop had been altered/cut/drilled/joined etc - as if you did choose Laminate due to budget - this could damage it quicker than you would hope !

For quartz cheaper than Silestone & Caesarstone, you have to be careful that you are getting good quality. Some alternatives aren't good. And by good quality, I mean good quality quartz, good quality machining, templating, flexibility at installation (e.g. some machining on site can be helpful to ensure tidy up stands, edges) etc. I went through finding an alternative earlier this year. My research led me to two companies. One was Rock & Co which offers a product called Urban Quartz in a large range of colours. They have a showroom in Hertfordshire, near St Albans. There was also another company called Cambridge Worktops which is linked to Stoneworld in Kendal, which offered a quartz product called Cliveden Quartz. . There were minor differences between what they were offering in terms of the quartz products and their processing, and logistics -- and each company wanted me to believe that their approach was great and the other's approach was inappropriate. But after a lot of questioning I had the feeling that I was willing to deal with either company. And in both cases their prices involved a significant saving. In the end I contracted with Rock & Co because they had the shade of off white that I liked best. They exceeded my expectations in some respects; met expectations in many respects, and fell short just in some. So I can't say the process was issue free, but I can same that I am overall happy, and that our quartz countertop is now installed and it looks amazing.
