Jumbo slabs of Quartz.

Am sorting out my new kitchen and I think my island needs a jumbo slab of Quartz. I like the lookalike marble. Does anyone know of any Quartz which comes in a jumbo size slab, preferably marble-ish or a light colour. Or indeed what is available in jumbo slabs?

Most manufacturers slabs are 300 x 140 cm in 2 or 3cm thick, we provide the Samsung Radianz, their slabs are 310 x 152 cm, they unfortunately do not do a marble effect in the range however they do have light colours, you can see the range of colours here http://www.geraldculliford.co.uk/search-materials.php?type=Samsung-Radianz and I can arrange Samples to be sent out if you require.

I've just had this same problem worth a peninsula of 3.14m. We have fitted Beltrami quartz in white. They do a marble effect too but the sample we saw was quite green and we wanted a definite grey. The only other supplier we could find was silestone but this was very expensive compared to beltrami.

Hi Georgie, this is what my step son in law Gary says: “I think there is a lot of light issues here. They look like two different shades of quartz but I don’t think they are. The issue is if you are not happy with the joint it means it is a bad joint. If it was done correctly it would be a butt joint with a max 1mm joint. This clearly is more than that. The resin used in the joint has mixed with the dust from the top and looks dirty. The only way forward is to cut the top of the joint with a grinder and refill with clean resin, remove the top and redo the edge. Hope this helps.” There’s nothing about stone that Gary doesn’t know, so I would trust his opinion. I'm looking at getting a Quartz brand CQ Maderia which is busier than anything I've used before so just a bit scared I'll look at the finished product and think What have I done! On the other hand really tempted to risk it.

Book matching is something that good fabricators do. It sounds like you need a good fabricator. Although - as I understand it only certain quartz with a high price tag can be book matched. And you have to do what you are suggesting where you use more than one slab and the wastage adds to the cost. The image is of Dekton not quartz which may be an easier way of getting the result you want.

We offer a huge range of marble-like quartz materials that you may like the look of. Silestone offer some of their colours in jubo slabs which are 325x159cm: Ariel, Lyra, Lagoon, Blanco Orion & Heliz are just a few of the marble like options they have available.

Some others to look at would be the Technistone - Noble Carrara & Noble Supreme White. Santamargherita - Lyskamm, Quartzforms - Veined Michelangelo & Impreial White. Dekton - Aura, Entzo & Kairos. Compac - Carrara. Cimstone - Olympos. Caesarstone - Calacatta Nuvo. These are all 3m and over.

Hope this helps, all of these brands have websites if you wanted to see the different colours. I'm not sure where you are based but we have samples of all of these colours in our showroom which is in Kirk Langley, Derbyshire.
