Thanks all, I’m very happy with it tbh, just have to wait on the better weather to get it outdoors! my wife likes it in the sunroom so I might have to come up with something else before the summer again! Lol

Cant believe there are some who would actually buy one, I’ve often thought about doing some very small volume, made to order stuff but the main issue I have is packing and transport, the top end stuff is very professionally packaged to prevent damage, it’s something I must look into!

@Yoise my ‘better’ half isn’t into a interiors as much as me and Is used to me producing things from time to time but she does appreciate it, don’t think she realises the thought and work that goes into it at times though!

@E D, the floor I got three years back, really sorry I can’t recall the make and I threw all the wrapping out but I’ll try and find out for you :-)

Yes @Danielle H, I totally agree but have to say most of the stuff I’ve bought has been extremely well packed, the flos light you mentions being one very well packed item! The foscarini lights I have are al very well packed too!

the best of all is the moroso stuff I’ve got from Italy, custom made boxes, custom polystyrene and foam inside too, very impressed but I’m sure expensive to produce sadly!

im actually going to look into polystyrene blocks that I could possibly cut myself, there is a special tool for doing it! Weights id another issue, some just ship freight and hope for the best!

tbh, shipping and a bit of a lack of confidence that people would actually want to buy my stuff is the main reasons I’ve never really looked any further into it :-(

My oh my Beano, that is fantastic! Far too good for the garden! If you ever decide to make a few bits of furniture for selling on, it may be worth finding a high end shop locally who may sell them for you for a commission? Just need to find those wealthy buyers! Well done.

can't argue Flos & Foscarini are very good when it comes to packaging... the French are probably the worst!
B&B Italia are the best I've come across. They crate everything and have tilt monitors on them.
I think the courier's/transport companies you'd use would also need to be carefully researched. even the best packaged items don't stand much chance with Yodel!!

you should definitely look into distribution for items that you could make! I wouldn't even have a clue where to start making something like that!

im actually an engineer working within the water industry, I look after all their electrical and electronic control systems as well as their telemetry (radio communications) systems.

id rather be doing this sort of thing full time tbh! Lol

Yes, had to weld (mild steel weld) up a small jig to get all the leg angles the same after heating, i just buy the materials I need and hope it all turns out ok!

@Patrina, I’m into my cars and one thing I wanted was a decent size garage to be able t work on them too, I remember when I seen the outline in lime on the ground I immediately added another meter both ways as it looked too small!

glad i did as it gave me a decent space to work in :-) I’ve a large air compressor, hydraulic car lift, it’s even painted, floored and pics with spotlights over them! Lol I’m so sad!
