Comments (4)Hi Marina. I keep looking at the pics and can't work it out, do you have 2 or 3 sofas?! I think you could possibly get away with fuschia but the lamps will stand out a fair bit unless you add a little for other accessories. If you want something That blends a little more you could try a blush pink, it just depends on what look you want. Alternatively you could just pick up the colours in the curtains, ie charcoal lampshades and add some green in a cushion etc. I don't think the art looks bad in the room but not completely wow either, I think it would work really well in a silver frame though imo. I think the coffee table needs accessoring and I would add a much taller vase of flowers on the dining table. Is there also another place the display cabinet could go? The sideboard looks great but the cabinet detracts from it (as a focal point, not that the cabinet isn't nice!!). Comments (9)Yes I agree with Lauz, the leather sofa is too harsh and leather doesn't promote good energy generally. Lauz maybe right that a very light beige would be too light. First have no hurry. Sofa picking is like finding a house, it takes time and the day you see the right one you will know. Your head spins right now so have a breath and take a weekend breather. Browse together - agree on what you dislike first so that gets rid of quite a lot. My friend Debbie has a room just like yours. Her sofa is a mixture of stripy green, golds and burgundy. It looks really good but I don't have a picture to show you. She also had copper colour blind with chocolate carpet it looks fab. A Velvet wine colour could fit in. I have a light grey velvet sofa and yes I had jeans marks on it but they do products that takes that off ( I took insurance for a year for scratches etc an they sent me the product which works wonders). I have a cat and I almost went for leather but I thought I only live the once and I will teach the cat. He tried it once and I clapped my hands really loud and it was the last time he did it. I don't regret it. Also I cover the bottom of my sofa with a beautiful throw to sit on and then I tidy it up and keep it on the arm. Comments (29)keep the frieze white, I know that it might be tempting to paint it to go, but as it is likely an original feature, and was originaly white, plaster friezes should just stay white. not briliant white dulux, like an art gallery but a lovely natural white, like shirting from the little greene paint co. UNless you are painting them with golds etc in some palace I fell they always look much better white. and try not to get too much contrast in your paints, look for a pinky greys , lilac shadow from sanderson paints, mirage from the little green paint company , and fig greyt from zoffany are all examples of greys that hit a pinky tone, but GET SAMPLES they are invaluable for the seeing the nuances of shade and sublteties that only the light in your room will pick up. i can send you paint charts if ytou need them karly...See Morehelp with carpet colour with a grey sofa
Comments (3)Thank you for that. Funnily enough I had already sent for Cormar samples as this is the carpet that they are using in the showhouse where we have bought the house which we really like. The colour they have used is Cormar Cambrian Stone. We like this colour and would like to put this throughout the house but worried it won't go with the grey sofas. What do you think ? The sofas won't be arriving until we move in the house in about a months time. The problem I have is I seem to have a sort of 'colour blindness'. I don't mean I am colour blind but I don't have the talent for seeing if the colours go together unless the colour is an accent. am also going for an accent chair in the bay window but am looking at possibly a heather coloured tartan chair with a large footstool/coffee table in a toning colour with cushions with hints of lemon and purple in them. I was thinking of paying for a Laura Ashley interior designer to come in, not so much to buy all the furniture from there, but just to make sure I don't make a serious blunder on the carpet and accent chairs. Thank you for your comment Sonia. We love Inchyra blue! We currently have elephants breath on our walls and I can’t wait to finally paint it with a darker colour. I agree with you about buying good quality sofas. Next offers some good options and this is the one we are thinking to go for...
6 years agoThat’s a great choice. I think Inchyra Blue walls go lovely with pale grey sofas. I also like dark charcoal grey. I even like blue or green velvet sofas with Inchyra walls, but I know that may be a step too far! Here’s some ideas, including your choice:
