So your walls are tiled and grouted, yet the shower pan has not been built? How do they then tie in the walls with the pan? Is that real marble, or a porcelain look-alike? Have you read the threads on marble shower floors? You can do a search at the top of the page.

I should’ve clarified, that picture is of the guest bath that’s been started, it has a tub. It has not been grouted yet. The same wall tile & the marble hex for basin will be going in the master bath which wasnt started yet. Yes it’s real marble, I believe it’s called venato carrara. I want them to do slightly wider grout lines in the master.

IMO the grout lines are perfect the less grout the better. Too bad you chose wood look for the floor though. As for grout color I never like white but as a pale a gray as possible for sure.

For the wood-look floors try to find as perfect a match to the tile color as possible, so that you hardly notice there’s grout there. You don’t want to call attention to the “grid lines.”

For the shower, be sure you really want natural marble on the shower floor. Porcelain marble-lookalike tile are less maintenance. Personally, I think it’ll look weird to have dark grout on the shower walls and lighter grout on the floor (unless they are very very clise). I’d pick one color grout for the whole shower. I prefer a very light gray with white tile. We used Mapei “frost.” If you like darker grout, okay, but match the wall and floor. Have your tile pro create sample boards for you before finalizing your decision. That is standard so that people can choose the grout after tile is up, using a grouted sample board.

Read up on and pay attention to waterproofing: proper slope to drain, waterproofed walls, floor, curb. It all must tie together as one waterproofed system before the first tile is installed. You could actually shower in it without tile or grout; that’s how waterproof it must be. Tile and grout are not waterproof; that’s just what you see on the outside. Be there for the flood test, when they set it up, and when they measure and pull the plug (and don’t let anyone in without you there during the flood test or they could add water to it to cover up a leak; ask me how I know that!).

As for grout, given that you not using the same kind of tile for pan and wall, I would use the same grout color for both, just to tie them together. Otherwise, you risk looking like you replaced one but were too cheap to do the other. A darker color is OK for narrow grout lines, 1/8" or less, but gets a little busy as the grout lines get wider. I do like your wood floor. The part on the left in the photo looks a little strange with the spacers still in place, but the finished part to the right looks quite nice.

i wanted a 3” hexagon tile for the shower floor & the only other one I could find was a solid gray. I also dont want to use a dark gray as I’m afraid it’ll discolor the marble

as for the water proofing, this is a new build that’s pre-sold but it’s not our construction loan so all we have input on is some aesthetic choices but we are not in control of any of the subcontractor hires or any of the actual physical labor that is occurring. I can make some aesthetic requests, but the build is in control of the GC & investors.
