Hi. I like the worktop and floor, are they damaged at all?? Just thinking if you have the budget to change those I might consider getting a professional decorater in instead for 3/4 days and painting the cabinets. If you use something like Little Greene intelligent eggshell, which I'd recommend, it's water based so dries really quickly. You could then maybe change the handles? I changed mine really cheaply, just Victorian knobs and cup handles.

If it's not an option I'd try a yellowy olive green and hopefully that will calm down the yellow tones in the cream.

i can only see one light, is that all you have? if so, can you afford to put in more or not? If not, there are plug in wall lights around but I can't see your plug sockets either 😂

The dark grey improves it. The lighter the colour, the more it can clash with the units so going dark will help.

Yep, only one ceiling light in the room, the plug sockets are behind the kettle, microwave, coffee machine and to the right of the hob.

I definitely think the cupboards appeared less yellow with the purple wall so going darker (if the cabinets can’t be painted) looks like the plan.

I think you can buy specific primers for melamine but a multi surface primer would also work, zinsser is excellent, I think it's zinsser B I N you need but check which one. If you're painting them you could fill the holes for new handles? I would personally use a pro though, melamine is obviously plastic so doesn't absorb anything so you want a good finish (I'm not doubting your painting skills btw as that sounds a bit rude, I suspect they're better than mine!).

That's tricky with lights.. Can you see much in there? Ideally I would also add downlights and a pendant over the table but that's a seriously messy job as you'd need the ceiling reskimmed after. You could look at something like a spider light (obviously not one hanging as low as this, just adding pics of what I mean!) or maybe a multi arm light to disperse it in different directions? You can also buy multi outlet ceiling roses so then can have the light of your choice. You could potentially have a plug in to the left of the window. I don't suppose there's a socket by the table?!
