Vanity (14" deep) for tiny bathroom
I'm remodeling my guest bathroom and after endless searches I have not found a vanity that will fit my bathroom space (at least one that I like). Since I have not found a vanity that will fit I have explored custom vanity options. I found a farmhouse apron sink. The apron style sink is helpful b/c it allows the cabinet to be shallower than the sink. I'm not in love with this style, I rather have a more modern farmhouse style. Moving forward I have a few questions
- has anyone seen this style sink to purchase (so I don't need to build it)?
- any other ideas for a shallow vanity?
- If I build this, any recommendations for the finish? I like the look of white oak, what kind of finish would I use so that it has a matte finish but can withstand water in the bathroom? Would it be easier to paint white? I'm afraid painting it white wouldn't have that professional cabinet finish.

Comments (36)Hi Senspasce and thank you my husband works for a large tile manufacturer and the tiles where purchased on slight seconds and a great tiler who works all over the world did the tiling beautifully. The design was copied from the company brochure so I knew it was foolproof design in its day which was over 20yrs ago so not done so bad really certainly had my moneys worth. The window is very heavily obsurced glass with leaded design so does not need blinds which cannot be fitted as casement to window is not deep enough I have had curtain treatment on expandable rod but like the light and openness. I prefer a bath we use to have shower on bracket with a shower curtain when I had new mixer and taps I did away with them to open the room up and getaway from water mold building up we use bath mat on floor when showering and not a problem with no screen a lot less cleaning too never a problem without them....See MoreSmall bathroom layout please help! I really don't like the current layout for this bathroom and I'm thinking if we move the toilet to the wall on the left under the sink and put the bathroom vanity where the toilet currently is so that this is the first thing the person sees when the door is open. Yeah...that one's been ruled out already :-) Here's a pic as it is at the mo: We did half an update around 10 years ago - new bath/screen/sink/taps/cupboard doors/floor - but our budget didn't stretch to retiling. The main drivers today are: to get a toilet in here new tiles (wall & floor and U/F heating) TBH, I want it to look more modern and I want a toilet. This is my master bath where I used the Boxe sink from American Standard. This room has a strange shape and this space is 35 inches wide with different angles on each side. There was no hope of finding something off the shelf which would fit this spot. As I have a large storage cabinet and a smaller wall cabinet across the room, my main wish was for lots of counter space.
The sink can be used with a countertop as shallow as 13 inches, or put at the front edge of a deeper counter. I like a countertop to use all the available space and this sink works well with a custom size and shape counter. For your space, I would probably use a small base cabinet 12 inches deep between your sink and the corner and run the countertop all the way across.
