Light grey will only make the carpet color stand out more. If the carpet has to stay, go with it. Use slate grey, charcoal, greige, wood.. A strong color on the/some walls (I'd suggest charcoal on the door wall and window wall, with white curtains). And perhaps replace some hinges on a wardrobe door (to wide angle) so a mirror could go on the back of that door, because if you hang it on the wall where the dresser is, light will just be in your back..

If you are going to consider a new bed, a style that will be higher, with height in the head of the bed and give a 'floating' impression may help the room seem more spacious as it seems you have higher ceilings. Everything is looking very low at the moment.

Thinking about this bed frame, excluding the purple colours. And definitely white or off white long curtains. How would a block out blind instead of the day curtains look like?

I have both in my bedroom; roller blinds and full height curtains. Practical, as there's a street lantern right outside and it looks good (softer). In daytime I open the curtains, because the radiators are otherwise covered. They're turned down to a minimum, but at night the heat is off, so the curtains can block them.

Exactly, that’s why I have shorter curtains atm so it does not block the heater, but longer curtains would look so much better. However, still need blinds to have some privacy, or block the sunlight or keep room darker when needed.

I would move away from grey. It looks rather grim unless a room is bright and sunny. I think the carpet is a great colour to start with (ginger brown is good!). Your grey furniture will tie in nicely too. I also think a warm off white on the walls, similar to your wardrobes, would look lovely. Roman blinds at the windows will be very smart, but I think soft, floaty curtains in a pale hue similar to the walls would go better? I would go for crisp white bedding (Sainsbury’s have a great affordable range), cushions in brown gingery tones and a gingery brown throw at the bottom of the bed. Then a few plants, faux or real, and some big poster art. It is a boho look, but so much nicer than grey everywhere. Something like this

Bamboo blinds would work.
