I have a few reservations.

Firstly I think the oven and the fridge look like they are in a high traffic area so there is a safety implication.

The two door fridge looks set into the cabinets but certainly in the UK these fridges protrude- this means you might struggle to open the doors and stand in front of it.
I think the cabinets look like they crowd the doorway- also consider where a light switch would go.

I think the wall cabinets on the window wall are unnecessary and the design would look cleaner without- especially getting rid of the wine rack that would be very difficult to access.

If you have two cooktops perhaps you should have two extractors.

Considering the cooktops take up much space on the island perhaps where you have shown a breakfast bar this would be better as a peninsula with more space for food preparation. You could perhaps put a breakfast bar on the outside of the peninsula.

Budget- the waterfall edge of the island is an expensive feature but is hidden so a cheaper option might be more appropriate. The same budget argument applies to the drawers on the back of the island where cupboards may be just as useful but at a lower price point.

Space- I assume there is sufficient circulation space around the island.

What is behind where the person is standing? Just a wall? There are 2 stools, you couldn't have one on each side of it.

I think the 2 hobs look strange. I'm not a chef, but don't see the point. Do you ever use 8 at once?

The stone could be honed by a specialist company. This involves finely grinding down the top of the tiles with a machine. I'd seek their advice on this. Depending upon how deep the acid has etched into the tiles, it may be easier to retile

Whilst I recognise there's a few tradespeople on here bemoaning fussy clients I have to say my biggest regrets when renovating my house was not being specific enough with trades! We had an electrician put in an extra light switch in the hall to control both the downstairs and upstairs lighting. He put it in a good 10-15cm lower than the other switch further along the same wall which looked completely ridiculous. Made him move it in line with the other one much to his annoyance. Another similar incident was with a vertical column rad for the kitchen - whilst I was specific enough this time to ask it be centered to the wall it was on, he installed it much higher than needed with about 30cm of pipe sticking out the bottom! It would have looked much better in line with the doorframe adjacent. Had to learn to live with that one. We had engineered wood floors put in upstairs - the fitter used the shortest wall in the smallest room to take a plumbline from. When it came into the hall it was obviously on a complete wonk. By this point I'd gotten a bit better at speaking up and ensuring we actually got what was needed (and paid for!). He had to take it up and re-lay using the hall as the plumbline. Looked so much better but he was extremely annoyed! After all this I learned to use masking tape to direct exactly where pipes/light switches/trim should be fitted so there was no room for 'interpretation'. I also forced myself to speak up more and advocate for what I really wanted. That said I'm a designer by trade so I generally know what I want and how to make it look good but was definitely a bit too shy to contradict trades in the beginning!

I have my washing machine in a cupboard in my bathroom and in your new proposed plan I don’t think you’ll potentially have enough space to comfortably load the washing machine front on without banging yourself on the sink. The original position of the cupboard I think is better (I have mine in a similar position in relation to bathroom door etc) also which way is your washing machine door hinged? If it’s hinged on the left like mine you’ll have even less room to load in the new proposed position. Try to hinge the cupboard door the same side as the washing machine too. Jonathan’s plan looks like a good plan to me and I’d have proposed similar :)

The property isn't a new build, the original part of the property is 1930s, and then it has had a couple of extensions and then changed from flat to pitched roof. The house isn't a new build The property will be as surveyed, as the trusses have been cut to allow full head height above the garage(attached to the house), and was advertised as accomodation above the garage space Then the poorly built part is above the main house where my builder who was round looking at something else has pointed out the deflection he can see in the rafters where he said they should be doubled up and have webs installed (some are there but incorrectly placed and/or build onto non solid structure - onto the felt roof and not onto the joists themself) Really starting to make me feel I've paid a lot of money for a property that isn't worth what I've paid and requires a lot to be spent on it...

Where the fridge is placed isn't a high traffic area and it's the only side which was suitable to put the ovens and fridge.

the light switch is right on the corner just before entering the kitchen. unfortunately we didn't put a switch sign on the design . the space before the tall cabinets measures 1000mm
The wine rack was placed there to be accessed from the nook. instead of 2 extractors we placed a single one that would cover both.

And on the island I agree with you but the client had an open budget thus giving us the ability to go all the way .

behind the person that's a chair . placed 2 movable chairs just to illustrate people sitting there facing eachother . And we placed 2 hobs because at times there are power cuts so in an event of a power cut you will still have the option of cooking with gas..

Cooking with gas in the dark, and only if you’ve got matches as the pilot sparks don’t won’t without electricity. Daftest reason imaginable.
You asked for a mark out of 10, I’d say a generous 3. The wine cabinet is floating in the middle of nowhere like an afterthought. The other wall cabinets are just strange.

A kitchen with 3 sockets? Looks quite dated - think the tiled splash back is part of the reason. Why the gap between the wall units? Gas hob is overkill and if electricity cuts are such an issue then a generator would be a better idea.

Hi Kirsa,

I think there are some valid points here, but I think some are a bit unfair. I've had a look at your profile and noticed you are based in Zimbabwe. I think what other people have failed to notice is that dual fuel sources are very common in other countries where electricity might not be too reliable so dual hobs make sense. And interior design taste are different from culture to culture, and from person to person.

As for the design I think you've done well. I agree with you that the most logical place for all the tall cabinets, oven and fridge are on the left hand side. There is no where else for them to go.
