Hi Gabby - yes I noticed that as well re the notifications!! Ridiculous! Maybe there is something in settings that stops that otherwise I will just have to unfollow everyone, urgh. Whats the name of the one you liked from the samples? There was some nice Karndean BUT they were well out of our price range so it always depends on your budget of course. We wanted a warm but neutral floor and this one looks both warm and cool sometimes. Originally I wanted a rich warm floor to balance out the grey but the orange tones clashed with the units and made them look too blue/retro so we decided to go with this one instead.

I live in a really hard water area and we have our Waterside water softener in the kitchen, so it doesn’t need to go near the shower. We order big bags of salt tablets from a local supplier who delivers free. We probably need to refill every couple of weeks. In terms of pipework for the shower, speaking as a complete layperson, there is no single answer. The type of shower you can have is determined by your water system, ie whether you have a water tank in the loft or a megaflow type. If you’re not going to have an electric shower (Triton/Mira type) then you are likely to need a pumped shower. The pump has to go somewhere. In our old ensuite luckily the shower backed on to the airing cupboard so it could go in there. Also, the actual water pipes to the shower head can be buried or exposed, and that depends on the look you want and also whether you have room to bury the pipes. I would suggest you look at Aqualisa’s website or get one of their brochures. They’re a leading shower brand and they have some good explanations to point you in the right direction when asking your plumber / installer what is possible.

Hi Lucy, Loving the concept you have chosen! i would recommend you do the Tadelakt on the long bath wall as you are planning, plus all three walls in the shower area. i would also do the bulkheads on both sides. Then either tile or paint the rest of the bathroom (its a bit difficult to judge without seeing the space properly). If budget allows, i would do the whole room and ceiling in Tadelakt. In my experience its easier to keep clean than grouted mosaic tiles in a wet area. I completely understand your concerns about Tadelakt so heres a useful article about maintenance. i would use this same cleaning process for the whole bathroom and use an E cloth (which is so you wont need to use any other chemicals). the article also recommends that if you do need to use cleaning products elsewhere then its best to spray the cloth and then clean. https://betterhomeblog.com/how-to-take-care-of-tadelakt/ I also agree with you about the larger hexagonal tiles. If you are going to plumb in a new shower than it could be either a shower head that comes out of the sloped ceiling or on the long wall at the tap end. I can see having the head holder on a slope probably means you end up with water everywhere. You will need to tile the full wall along length of bath and back wall and then maybe shower panel on the slope. I have just painted eggshell ceiling above my shower which needs touching up every now and again but it is at least 2 feet from shower head. I guess it depends how much you want to spend. I have heard landlords say panels are better than tiles - cheaper to fit and keep clean of mould etc
