That's almost identical to ours that we're having fitted at the end of this month. Great minds and all that :) We went for a split level breakfast bar for the reasons that have already been stated, oh and also 3 stools. We have no issues with the ovens and hob being at opposite ends of the room, for the same reasons that you also stated. We thought that it 'could' be an issue, but over time we found that actually there a very very few times that were using both at exactly the same time. Usually we just chuck something in the oven, then take it out a few hours later. The veg and stuff, just pop it on the hob. No problems, I'm sure it's just a 'what people are used to' problem rather than anything else. Yes, we also have a full height fridge next to the ovens. That's not going to be an issue either IMO, i mean, how many times to you leave the oven doors open and are desperate to get into the fridge - saying that though, we've gone for Neff hide & slide so the oven door isn't going to be an issue either. Integrated dishwasher, yes agreed. That's what we have gone for. The freezers are in the utility room. We've also gone for a wine cooler, and a black ceramic sink. It's a tough one, leather may be a safer option. What do you think of this rug with it, might also go nicely with the first rust stool I posted (the stool also comes with black legs)? If you could I’d possibly integrate the fridge and put a breakfast bar where it is running along the back of the sofa, does look a little cramped there, doffs do need a bigger one, what opposite the sofa? can’t make out if you can move the table away from the fridge.

In the extension we're currently having built, we will also have lounge seating, a dining area and breakfast bar seating. The different seating areas are for different uses, so consider how you will use the space. In my situation, I envisage the living room seating (sofas) to be for relaxing, the dining chairs for eating together as a family (which we do every evening and often lunchtimes too), and the breakfast bar will be for my (teenaged) children to eat breakfast and snacks. Which they do every 5 minutes because they're teenagers... Your window seat is a lovely addition and I imagine it would be used for solitary reading/drinking a coffee etc. You don't say whether you have children/what ages they are, but I think breakfast bar seating is a good idea at any age as it means you can get on with things in the kitchen but still chat with them/supervise homework/give them snacks or whatever. Plus I'm looking forward to chatting with friends (when we're allowed again!) while I cook. I'd rather they have somewhere to perch than have to stand up around the island. Lots of people don't have seating at their island and that's fine too, but it really all comes down to how you like to live (or how you envisage you will live after the work is done). I know for sure that my kids would wander over to the sofa with their snacks as it doesn't feel right to them to sit at a dining table on their own for a snack - and I'd rather keep their crumbs and sticky fingers in the kitchen area!
